The mansion had never felt so quiet.
For years, Isabella's laughter had filled every hallway, every balcony, every empty corner of the Romano estate.
Now there was only silence.
Carlo stood alone in their bedroom, staring at the wedding ring she had left behind.
It rested beside the signed divorce papers like the final chapter of a story neither of them had expected to end.
He picked up the ring carefully.
It was still warm.
She couldn't have been gone for more than twenty minutes.
"Boss?"
Marco knocked softly before entering.
"The car is ready if you'd like us to bring Madam back."
Carlo remained silent.
His eyes never left the ring.
"No," he finally answered.
"She just needs time to calm down."
Marco hesitated.
"Sir... this feels different."
"It's not."
Carlo's voice was calm.
"She's angry. She'll come home in a few days."
He wanted to believe those words.
Unfortunately, they sounded less convincing every time he repeated them.
Meanwhile...
Isabella arrived at her parents' estate just before sunset.
Her mother smiled warmly as she opened the front door.
"Bella! Why didn't you tell us you were coming?"
Isabella forced a smile.
"I missed home."
"And Carlo?"
"He's busy with work."
"Again?"
"Yes."
Her father looked up from the newspaper.
"That young man works too much."
"Tell him next time he visits that I'll personally lock him inside this house for a week."
Everyone laughed.
Everyone except Isabella.
She hated lying to her parents.
But she couldn't bear watching disappointment spread across their faces.
Not yet.
That night, she lay awake in her childhood bedroom.
For the first time in years, Carlo wasn't beside her.
She expected relief.
Instead, tears silently soaked her pillow.
Loving someone didn't disappear overnight.
Neither did the pain.
The following morning, Carlo woke automatically at six.
He turned toward Isabella's side of the bed.
It was empty.
Cold.
Only then did reality settle inside him.
She was really gone.
Downstairs, breakfast had already been prepared.
The dining table looked exactly as it always did.
Except only one plate remained.
The servants exchanged nervous glances.
Nobody dared mention Madam.
Carlo sat down.
His favorite coffee was missing.
"Where's my espresso?"
The butler blinked.
"Madam always made it herself, Sir."
Carlo looked toward the kitchen.
For years, Isabella had memorized every tiny habit he had.
She knew exactly how much sugar he wanted.
Exactly how hot he liked his coffee.
Exactly which newspaper he read first.
He had never realized how much she quietly did for him.
Because she had never complained.
"I'll make it," he muttered.
Five minutes later, he took one sip.
It tasted terrible.
Marco couldn't help smiling.
"Sir... Madam really spoiled you."
Carlo didn't reply.
Instead, he stood and left the untouched breakfast behind.
Later that afternoon...
Valentina knocked on Carlo's office door.
"Come in."
She stepped inside cautiously.
"Don Carlo..."
"If you're here about yesterday, don't."
"I just wanted to explain."
"Explain what?"
"That Mrs. Romano misunderstood everything."
Carlo looked up sharply.
"She didn't misunderstand the photographs."
"They shouldn't have existed in the first place."
Valentina lowered her head.
"I never meant to hurt her."
"Intentions don't erase consequences."
"Sir..."
"Enough."
His tone became colder.
"From today onward, Marco will supervise your training."
"You won't be working directly with me anymore."
Valentina froze.
"Why?"
"Because my wife walked out yesterday."
"And whether we're guilty or not... we gave her every reason to believe we were."
For a brief moment, disappointment flashed across Valentina's face.
She quickly hid it.
"Understood, Don."
She left quietly.
Outside the office, Marco had witnessed everything.
"You finally noticed?" he asked.
Carlo frowned.
"Noticed what?"
"The way she looks at you."
"She's just a soldier."
"Maybe to you."
"But not to her."
Marco walked away, leaving Carlo deep in thought.
That evening...
Isabella returned to her family's warehouse to organize shipments.
Work had always helped clear her mind.
While checking inventory, she noticed someone waiting outside.
A familiar black sedan.
She sighed.
"He's faster than I expected."
The car door opened.
Carlo stepped out.
He wasn't wearing his expensive suit today.
Only a simple black coat.
He looked exhausted.
"Bella."
"Don't call me that."
"Can we talk?"
"We already did."
"No."
"Yesterday you talked.
I defended myself.
"Today I want to listen."
She looked at him quietly.
"You're too late."
"No..."
"I just need five minutes."
"You had three years."
"Five minutes won't fix them."
She walked past him toward the warehouse entrance.
Carlo reached out instinctively.
His fingers brushed her wrist.
"Please."
She slowly pulled away.
"Do you know what hurts the most?"
He remained silent.
"It's not the possibility that you fell in love with someone else."
"It's realizing that I stopped being your first choice a long time ago."
"Every holiday."
"Every anniversary."
"Every promise."
"There was always something... or someone... more important than me."
Carlo's expression tightened.
"You're wrong."
"Am I?"
"Then tell me..."
"When was the last time we had dinner together without your phone ringing?"
"When was the last time we celebrated my birthday?"
"When was the last time you asked if I was happy?"
He opened his mouth.
Nothing came out.
Because he couldn't remember.
Neither could she.
"That's what I thought."
She unlocked the warehouse door.
"Goodbye, Carlo."
"Don't come looking for me again."
The heavy metal door closed between them.
Carlo remained standing outside.
For the first time in years...
Don Carlo felt completely powerless.
Inside the warehouse, Isabella leaned against the door.
Her hands trembled.
She could still hear his footsteps outside.
Several long minutes passed.
Then silence.
She looked through the security monitor.
His car was gone.
She thought she would feel relieved.
Instead, her heart felt strangely empty.
Back at Romano headquarters, Marco entered Carlo's office carrying a folder.
"Sir... we've identified the photographer who took those pictures."
Carlo looked up immediately.
"Who hired him?"
Marco placed the file on the desk.
"That's the strange part."
"Every payment came from anonymous offshore accounts."
"Someone wanted those photographs to exist."
"And someone wanted Madam to find them."
Carlo slowly opened the folder.
As he studied the financial records, a dangerous look appeared in his eyes.
"This wasn't an accident..."
"Someone has been planning this for a very long time."
