Three months later...
Life had changed completely.
Isabella had successfully expanded her family's shipping company into three new countries.
Business magazines began calling her one of the youngest and most successful entrepreneurs in the industry.
For the first time in years, people introduced her by her own name.
Not as Don Carlo's wife.
Simply as Isabella Romano.
Meanwhile, the Romano family had completely destroyed the Moretti organization.
Every warehouse had been seized.
Every remaining leader had either surrendered or disappeared.
The war was finally over.
Yet despite winning the biggest battle of his life, Carlo felt no satisfaction.
Because the only person he truly wanted beside him was gone.
One afternoon, Marco entered Carlo's office with a document.
"Boss... the divorce hearing has been scheduled."
Carlo stared at the papers for several moments before signing them.
"No objections?" Marco asked quietly.
"No."
"If holding onto my name keeps her unhappy... then I have no right to stop her."
"She deserves peace."
A week later, the courtroom was unusually quiet.
Isabella walked in wearing a simple white suit.
She looked confident.
Strong.
Nothing like the woman who had once cried herself to sleep waiting for her husband.
Carlo stood as she entered.
Their eyes met briefly.
Neither spoke.
The judge reviewed the documents.
"Both parties have agreed to dissolve the marriage willingly."
"Do either of you wish to make changes before the judgment is finalized?"
The room fell silent.
Carlo slowly stood.
"No, Your Honor."
"I only have one request."
The judge nodded.
"Proceed."
Carlo turned toward Isabella.
"In front of everyone here... I'd like to apologize."
"I spent years believing that providing safety and wealth was enough."
"I forgot that my wife also needed my time, my respect, and my attention."
"You gave me your whole heart... while I gave you whatever was left after work."
"That was my greatest failure."
"I don't expect forgiveness."
"And I won't ask you to come back."
"I only hope that one day, when you remember me... you remember the man who's trying to become better, not the man who hurt you."
The courtroom remained completely silent.
Several people lowered their heads.
Even the judge seemed moved.
Isabella looked at Carlo for a long moment.
"Thank you," she said softly.
"Not because your apology changes the past."
"But because you finally accepted responsibility without making excuses."
"I truly hope you become the man you want to be."
"But my future is no longer tied to yours."
The judge signed the final order.
"The divorce is hereby granted."
With one strike of the gavel...
Their marriage officially came to an end.
Outside the courthouse, reporters gathered immediately.
"Miss Isabella!"
"Do you have anything to say after today's divorce?"
She smiled peacefully.
"Yes."
"Sometimes walking away isn't giving up."
"Sometimes it's the bravest decision you'll ever make."
"Never stay somewhere your love is taken for granted."
"Know your worth, even if someone else doesn't."
Her words quickly spread across the city.
Thousands admired the strength she had shown.
Across the street, Carlo watched the interview from a distance.
Marco stood beside him.
"Boss... are you really letting her go?"
Carlo smiled sadly.
"I already lost her the day I stopped making her my priority."
"Today only made it official."
"Do you regret it?"
Carlo looked toward the bright afternoon sky.
"Every single day."
"But regret isn't meant to change the past."
"It's meant to change the person you become afterward."
At that moment, Isabella's car slowly drove past.
She looked out of the window for just a second.
Their eyes met one final time.
There was no hatred.
No anger.
Only acceptance.
She gave him a small, respectful nod.
Then the car continued down the road.
This time...
She never looked back.
And Carlo finally understood.
The most painful lesson in love was realizing that sometimes...
The person you lose isn't taken away by someone else.
They're lost because you failed to cherish them while you still had the chance.
For the rest of his life, Don Carlo would remember one truth.
Power could conquer enemies.
Money could build empires.
But neither could bring back the woman who quietly walked away.
The Don regretted everything.
But his regret had come far too late.
The End.
