Caspian's convoy disappeared beyond the gates, but the tension he left behind remained.
I stood by the window, watching the cars vanish into the distance.
Zane stayed beside me without saying a word.
For once, I did not feel like I had to explain myself.
"Are you all right?" he finally asked.
I nodded slowly.
"I think I am."
Then my phone vibrated.
An unknown number had sent me a photograph.
My blood ran cold the moment I opened it.
It showed me leaving the hospital after my father's surgery.
Someone had been watching me.
Another message appeared.
"Ask your husband why the accident happened."
My fingers tightened around the phone.
"Zane..."
He took the phone from my hand and studied the photograph.
His expression became colder.
"This was taken from across the street."
"Who sent it?"
"We will find out."
Before he could say anything else, another message arrived.
"The woman you blame is not the one who started this."
I stared at the words.
"What does that mean?"
Zane looked toward the security team.
"Trace the number."
One of his men immediately began working.
Minutes later, he returned with a worried expression.
"The number is unregistered. But the message was routed through a server belonging to the Solis organization."
My heart sank.
Someone inside Caspian's own organization was contacting me.
And they wanted me to know something.
That evening, Zane received a call from one of his informants.
He listened quietly before ending the call.
"We found something."
"What?"
"The hospital footage was not deleted by Ivy."
I looked at him in surprise.
"Then who did it?"
Zane placed a photograph on the table.
It showed a man standing near the security control room on the night of my fall.
I recognized him immediately.
"That is one of Caspian's personal guards."
Zane nodded.
"His name is Victor Hale. He has worked for Caspian for eight years."
"Why would he erase the footage?"
"That is what we need to find out."
The next morning, Victor disappeared.
His apartment was empty, his phone was destroyed, and his bank accounts had been drained.
Someone had gotten to him first.
Then Marco called me.
His voice was barely above a whisper.
"Lorelai, I need to tell you something before it is too late."
"What is it?"
"Caspian did not know about the hospital footage."
I frowned.
"What are you saying?"
"Someone has been using his name and authority without his knowledge."
My heart began to pound.
"Who?"
Marco hesitated.
"Ivy."
I closed my eyes.
For weeks, I had believed Ivy was simply the woman who stole my husband's attention.
But perhaps she had been playing a much bigger game.
"Where is she now?" I asked.
"She disappeared this morning."
The call ended abruptly.
I looked at Zane.
"She is gone."
His eyes narrowed.
"Then we find her before she disappears for good."
For the first time, I realized this was no longer just about revenge, divorce, or a broken marriage.
Someone had been manipulating everyone around us.
And I was beginning to suspect that my fake amnesia had only opened the door to a much more dangerous truth.
