The next morning, Jones Design Studio received unexpected news.
Hill Corporation had announced that it was looking for a design partner for the highly anticipated Riverside Commercial Project.
The investment was worth billions.
Every major design company in Melbourne wanted the contract.
Inside the conference room, excitement filled the air.
"If we secure this project, our company will become one of the industry's top firms," one executive exclaimed.
Mr. Jones nodded proudly.
"Rebecca, I'll leave this project in your hands."
"Don't disappoint me."
Rebecca smiled confidently.
"Don't worry, Dad. I'll definitely win the contract."
Catherine remained silent.
The Riverside Commercial Project...
It was based on the proposal she had spent months designing before her father handed everything over to Rebecca.
After the meeting, Rebecca deliberately stopped Catherine outside the office.
"You must feel terrible."
"The project you've worked on for months is now mine."
"Life really is unfair sometimes, isn't it?"
Catherine looked at her calmly.
"No."
"Life is actually very fair."
"People eventually receive what they deserve."
Rebecca laughed dismissively.
"Still pretending to be confident?"
"You lost Ethan."
"You lost Father's trust."
"And now you've lost your biggest project."
"What exactly do you have left?"
Catherine slowly smiled.
"A husband who never lets me face problems alone."
"Can you say the same?"
Rebecca's smile instantly disappeared.
Without another word, Catherine walked away.
At noon, a black Rolls-Royce stopped outside Jones Design Studio.
Employees rushed toward the windows.
"That's Mr. Hill's car!"
"Why would Hill Corporation's chairman come here personally?"
"Is he meeting the chairman?"
A chauffeur stepped out and respectfully opened the rear door.
Shaun emerged from the car.
His custom-made charcoal suit and calm expression immediately attracted everyone's attention.
The receptionist hurried forward nervously.
"Mr. Hill... welcome."
"Chairman Jones is waiting upstairs."
"I'm not here for him," Shaun replied.
"I'm here to pick up my wife."
The receptionist froze.
"Your... wife?"
At that moment, Catherine walked out of the elevator carrying a stack of documents.
Shaun naturally walked toward her and took the files from her hands.
"You've been working too hard," he said softly.
"You should let me carry these."
Catherine smiled.
"I can manage."
"I know."
"But that doesn't mean you have to do everything alone."
The employees stared in complete disbelief.
The legendary Shaun Hill...
Personally carrying his wife's documents.
Mr. Jones and Rebecca quickly rushed downstairs after hearing the commotion.
"Mr. Hill!" Mr. Jones greeted enthusiastically.
"If we had known you were coming, we would've prepared a proper welcome."
"There's no need," Shaun replied politely.
"I only came to have lunch with my wife."
"Lunch?"
"Yes."
He turned toward Catherine.
"Are you free?"
"I was just about to take my break," she answered.
"Perfect."
Before leaving, Shaun glanced at Mr. Jones.
"By the way..."
"I reviewed the preliminary design proposal your company submitted for the Riverside Commercial Project."
Rebecca immediately stepped forward confidently.
"Thank you, Mr. Hill."
"I've worked very hard on it."
Shaun looked at her without changing his expression.
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Then perhaps you'd like to explain why every major concept inside the proposal was originally created by my wife."
Silence.
Rebecca's face turned pale.
"I... I don't understand."
"You don't?"
Shaun calmly opened one of the files Hadley handed him.
"This is Catherine's original design draft."
"Created six months ago."
"And this is the version your company recently submitted."
"The similarities are over ninety-five percent."
Every executive present looked stunned.
Mr. Jones hurriedly grabbed the documents.
The evidence was undeniable.
"Rebecca... what's going on?"
"Dad, I..."
"I only made a few adjustments..."
"Adjustments?" Catherine asked quietly.
"Or theft?"
Rebecca was speechless.
Shaun closed the file.
"Hill Corporation values originality."
"We have zero tolerance for plagiarism."
"Unless this matter is resolved fairly..."
"Jones Design Studio will no longer be considered for the Riverside Commercial Project."
Those words struck the room like thunder.
Mr. Jones' face turned completely white.
"Mr. Hill, please... there must be some misunderstanding."
"There's no misunderstanding," Shaun answered.
"Only injustice."
He gently took Catherine's hand.
"Come on."
"Let's have lunch."
Without looking back, the couple walked toward the waiting Rolls-Royce.
Inside the stunned lobby, no one dared stop them.
As the car drove away, Catherine looked at Shaun.
"Did you investigate everything just because of me?"
Shaun smiled faintly.
"No."
"I investigated because someone dared to bully Mrs. Hill."
"And that's something I simply cannot ignore."
For the first time since their marriage, Catherine felt something warm spread through her heart.
Maybe...
Marrying Shaun wasn't just an act of revenge anymore.
Maybe...
It was the beginning of a love she had never expected.
