Emily barely slept that night.
Too many emotions overwhelmed her.
Her father hadn't abandoned her.
He had sacrificed everything to protect his family.
The truth changed everything she believed for the past eight years.
Early the next morning, Dominic was already waiting in the dining room.
"Good morning," he greeted as Emily walked downstairs.
"Did you sleep?"
"A little."
"You?"
"Not much."
Marcus arrived shortly afterward carrying several folders.
"The bank confirmed the safety deposit box still exists," he announced.
"It's registered under Robert Hart's name."
"Can we access it?" Emily asked.
"With the key and proof of your identity, yes," Marcus replied.
"Then let's go," Dominic said.
Less than an hour later, they arrived at the city's oldest private bank.
The manager personally welcomed Dominic.
"Mr. Steele, everything has been prepared."
"Thank you."
Emily handed over her identification while Dominic presented the silver key.
After verifying the documents, the manager led them into the secure underground vault.
"Box number 307," he said.
"Please take your time."
He unlocked the main compartment before leaving the room.
Emily stepped forward with trembling hands.
"Ready?" Dominic asked softly.
She nodded.
Using the silver key, she unlocked the safety deposit box.
Inside were several neatly arranged items.
A leather-bound journal.
A thick file of financial documents.
Several photographs.
And another sealed envelope.
"There's another letter," Emily whispered.
"Read it," Marcus encouraged.
Emily carefully opened the envelope.
"My sweet Emily," she began reading.
"If you've reached this box, then you've discovered the truth."
"The people hunting me belong to an organization that stole millions through illegal financial operations."
"I collected enough evidence to expose them."
"But before I could hand everything over, they found out."
"The journal explains everything."
"The documents prove every crime."
"And the photographs reveal the people involved."
"Trust the Steele family."
"Your grandfather once saved mine."
"They are the only people powerful enough to protect you."
"I hope one day we'll meet again."
"If not... know that I loved you every day of my life."
"Dad."
Emily could no longer hold back her tears.
Dominic quietly stood beside her.
"We'll finish what your father started," he promised.
"I won't let his sacrifice be meaningless."
Marcus opened the leather journal.
Every page contained handwritten notes.
Dates.
Bank account numbers.
Names of businessmen.
Government officials.
Secret transactions.
"This is enormous," Marcus muttered.
"Enough to destroy several powerful people."
Dominic studied one of the photographs.
His expression suddenly darkened.
"Impossible..."
"What?" Marcus asked.
Dominic handed him the picture.
"Look at the man standing beside Robert Hart."
Marcus's eyes widened.
"That's Victor Kane."
"Chairman of Kane Global Industries."
"One of Steele Empire's biggest competitors."
"Exactly."
"If Victor is involved... this is bigger than we imagined."
Emily looked between them.
"Who is Victor Kane?"
"One of the richest businessmen in the country," Dominic explained.
"Publicly he's respected."
"Privately... I never trusted him."
"Now we know why."
Marcus gathered the evidence carefully.
"We shouldn't leave these documents here."
"Agreed," Dominic replied.
"Everything goes into Steele Empire's secure archive."
As they prepared to leave the vault, the bank manager hurried toward them.
"Mr. Steele," he said nervously.
"There's a problem."
"What happened?"
"Several men just entered the bank asking whether Miss Emily Hart was here."
"Who are they?"
"They refused to identify themselves."
Dominic immediately became alert.
"Marcus."
"Take Emily through the rear exit."
"What about you?" Emily asked.
"I'm staying."
"No!"
"Listen to me," Dominic said firmly.
"Right now your safety comes first."
"Go."
Reluctantly, Emily followed Marcus toward the emergency exit.
Dominic remained behind.
Moments later, three men in black suits entered the lobby.
"We're looking for Emily Hart," one of them said.
"Who are you?" Dominic asked coldly.
"That's none of your concern."
"Actually... it is."
Dominic stepped forward confidently.
"Because you're standing inside a bank under my protection."
The men exchanged glances.
Their leader smiled slightly.
"This doesn't concern Steele Empire."
"It does now," Dominic replied.
"Tell your boss one thing."
"If he wants Emily... he'll have to come through me first."
The mysterious men silently turned around and walked away.
But before leaving, their leader looked back one final time.
"This isn't over, Mr. Steele."
"Not even close."
Dominic watched them disappear outside the bank.
Deep inside, he knew the game had officially begun.
And this time...
It wasn't just Emily's life at stake.
It was his as well.
