The morning of Zoe and Lucian's wedding arrived beneath a clear blue sky.
Soft sunlight poured through the tall windows of the Lyttelton Estate, filling every room with warmth.
Unlike the wedding in her previous life, there was no fear in Zoe's heart.
No anxiety.
No desperate hope that someone would eventually love her.
Instead, she felt calm.
For the first time, she was walking toward a future she had chosen herself.
Several attendants helped her prepare for the ceremony.
When she looked into the mirror, she barely recognized the woman staring back.
She wasn't the insecure girl who constantly questioned her worth.
She wasn't the woman who had sacrificed everything for someone incapable of loving her.
She had become someone stronger.
Someone who finally understood that real happiness never came from chasing another person's affection.
Meanwhile, inside another room of the estate, Lucian adjusted his tie while Ethan handed him the wedding rings.
"Nervous, sir?" Ethan asked with a smile.
Lucian looked down at the small velvet box before answering honestly.
"A little."
"Not because I'm uncertain."
"Because I want today to become one of the happiest memories of her life."
Ethan smiled warmly.
"I'm certain it already will."
Guests slowly gathered inside the private garden where the ceremony would take place.
There were no hundreds of reporters.
No extravagant decorations meant to attract attention.
Only close family members and trusted friends.
Everything reflected exactly what Lucian and Zoe had wanted.
Simple.
Elegant.
Meaningful.
Charles Herbert sat proudly in the front row.
As he watched his daughter walk toward the aisle in her white wedding dress, his eyes became moist.
"You'd be so proud of her," he whispered softly, thinking of his late wife.
At that exact moment, hundreds of miles away in Southport, Connor stood outside the airport.
His car engine remained running.
The wedding invitation rested on the passenger seat beside him.
For hours, he had struggled with the same question.
Should he go?
Should he tell Zoe how he truly felt before it was too late?
Deep inside...
He already knew the answer.
Even if he confessed now, it wouldn't erase the years of neglect.
It wouldn't erase the tears she had cried.
Most importantly...
It wouldn't erase the happiness she had finally found.
Connor slowly turned off the engine.
He looked once more at the invitation before quietly placing it inside the glove compartment.
"I'm too late," he whispered.
"And I deserve to be."
Back in Khelmark, soft music filled the garden.
Zoe walked slowly toward Lucian.
Every step felt lighter than the last.
When she reached the altar, Lucian looked at her with gentle admiration.
"You look beautiful," he said sincerely.
"Thank you," Zoe replied with a smile.
"So do you."
The officiant began the ceremony.
After exchanging vows, it was finally time for the rings.
Lucian gently held Zoe's hand.
"I can't promise you'll never experience sadness again," he said softly.
"But I promise you'll never face it alone."
"I'll respect your choices."
"I'll protect your dreams."
"And I'll spend every day earning the trust you've given me."
Tears shimmered in Zoe's eyes.
When her turn came, she smiled through them.
"In another life, I spent years trying to become enough for someone else."
"This life taught me something much more important."
"Love isn't about changing yourself until someone notices you."
"It's about finding someone who appreciates the person you already are."
"Thank you for reminding me that I deserve kindness."
"And thank you... for becoming my home."
Lucian gently slipped the wedding ring onto her finger.
She did the same for him.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife."
"You may kiss your bride."
As Lucian leaned forward and kissed her gently, warm applause echoed throughout the garden.
Charles smiled through his tears.
Even the estate staff quietly celebrated.
Everyone could see that the happiness on Zoe's face was genuine.
Later that evening, after the reception ended, Zoe and Lucian walked alone through the illuminated gardens.
"Mrs. Lyttelton," Lucian teased softly.
"How does that sound?"
Zoe laughed.
"I think I'll need some time to get used to it."
"Take all the time you need."
"We have the rest of our lives."
She looked at the man beside her.
Steady.
Patient.
Kind.
For the first time, the future no longer frightened her.
Several days later, news of their wedding reached Southport.
Connor quietly read the announcement in the morning newspaper.
There was a photograph of Zoe smiling beside Lucian.
Instead of jealousy...
He felt regret.
Not because she belonged to someone else.
But because he had failed to recognize her value until she was gone.
He folded the newspaper carefully before placing it aside.
"Be happy, Zoe," he whispered.
"Even if it isn't with me."
Months passed.
The Buxton family eventually noticed Connor becoming quieter and more mature.
He focused on work and charity instead of meaningless social events.
Although the regret remained, he no longer tried to interfere with Zoe's life.
Sometimes losing someone became the greatest lesson a person could receive.
As for Zoe...
She often stood beside Lucian on the balcony overlooking Khelmark's skyline.
Every sunrise reminded her of the promise she had made after being reborn.
To stop chasing someone who would never love her.
To choose herself.
To choose happiness.
Looking back now, she realized she had finally kept that promise.
The painful past had become nothing more than a distant memory.
She had survived heartbreak.
She had overcome regret.
And in the end...
She discovered that the greatest love story of her life wasn't about winning someone else's heart.
It was about learning to value her own.
From that day forward, Zoe never looked back again.
Because the path she had finally chosen...
Was the path of happiness.
