Three weeks later...
The first rays of morning sunlight streamed through the large windows of De Luca Medical Center.
The atmosphere was peaceful.
The chaos, gunfire, and betrayal that had consumed the previous weeks now felt like a distant nightmare.
Marco slowly opened his eyes.
This time, there were no alarms.
No doctors rushing around.
Only the quiet sound of birds outside.
"Good morning," a familiar voice said softly.
Marco turned his head.
Devon sat beside the hospital bed with a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other.
"You're awake again," Devon smiled.
"This is becoming a habit."
Marco chuckled weakly.
"I heard you cried last time."
"Luca talks too much."
"So you did cry."
"Maybe a little."
"Good."
"Good?"
"Means you would've missed me."
Devon rolled his eyes.
"You're impossible."
"And yet... you're still here."
"Exactly."
The two shared a quiet smile.
For the first time since they had met, there were no secrets standing between them.
Later that afternoon, the hospital conference room was filled with familiar faces.
Benjamin Hamilton sat beside Richard Hamilton, who had finally begun recovering after years of captivity.
Miriam stood nearby with Luca.
Several lawyers organized stacks of legal documents across the table.
"Everything has been verified," the lead attorney announced.
"Victor Kane's criminal network has officially been dismantled."
"His remaining assets have been frozen."
"Alexander Graves has agreed to testify in exchange for a reduced sentence."
"Dominic Russo has confessed to every charge."
Benjamin slowly looked toward Devon.
"The Hamilton Trust officially belongs to you now."
The lawyer slid a folder across the table.
"With your signature... you'll become Chairman of Hamilton International."
Everyone waited.
Devon quietly looked at the papers.
Then he gently pushed them back.
"I'm not signing."
The room fell silent.
"Devon?" Benjamin asked.
"Why?"
"Because I finally understand what Uncle Richard wanted."
"This company was never meant to belong to one person."
"It was meant to protect thousands of families."
He looked toward Richard.
"If you're willing..."
"I'd like both of us to rebuild it together."
Richard's eyes filled with tears.
"I'd be honored."
Benjamin smiled proudly.
"Your mother would've been proud of the man you've become."
Several weeks later...
Hamilton International held its first press conference in years.
Benjamin officially retired.
Richard returned as honorary chairman.
Devon accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer.
His first announcement surprised the entire business world.
"Effective immediately..."
"Hamilton International will establish a foundation supporting victims of organized crime and corruption."
"No family should ever experience what ours did."
The announcement received a standing ovation.
Meanwhile...
Across town...
Marco stood on the balcony of his mansion overlooking the city skyline.
His shoulder had almost completely healed.
Luca approached with a small smile.
"Everything's ready."
"He's waiting in the garden."
"Thank you."
Marco walked downstairs.
The mansion gardens were filled with white roses.
Near the fountain stood Devon, wearing a navy-blue suit.
"You wanted to see me?" Devon asked.
"Actually..." Marco replied.
"I wanted to ask you something."
He reached into his jacket.
Instead of a weapon...
He pulled out a small velvet box.
Devon's eyes widened.
"Marco..."
"I've spent my entire life surrounded by fear."
"People respected me..."
"Some feared me..."
"But nobody ever made me want to become a better man."
"Until you."
Marco slowly opened the box.
Inside rested a simple platinum ring.
"The first time we met..."
"You kissed a complete stranger because you were trying to escape your life."
"Funny enough..."
"You ended up giving me mine."
He took a slow breath.
"Devon Hamilton..."
"Will you stop running..."
"And spend the rest of your life with me?"
Devon stood speechless.
His eyes slowly filled with tears.
Then he laughed softly.
"You know..."
"For someone who's supposed to be a terrifying mafia boss..."
"You're unbelievably romantic."
"Is that a yes?" Marco asked.
Devon stepped forward.
He gently cupped Marco's face.
"It's the easiest yes I've ever given."
"Yes... I'll marry you."
Marco slipped the ring onto Devon's finger.
A second later...
Devon kissed him.
This time...
There was no alcohol.
No misunderstandings.
No danger waiting around the corner.
Only love.
Their family and friends emerged from behind the garden hedges, applauding and cheering.
Benjamin hugged Richard.
Miriam wiped away happy tears.
Luca laughed louder than anyone else.
"About time!" he shouted.
Marco wrapped his arms around Devon as the evening sun painted the sky in shades of gold.
"So... what happens now?" Devon asked.
Marco smiled.
"Now... we finally get to live."
Together, they watched the sunset.
Not as a mafia boss and an unwilling heir.
Not as two strangers brought together by fate.
But as two men who had survived betrayal, sacrifice, and war...
And had found something far more valuable than power or wealth.
They had found each other.
