The atmosphere outside Central Park turned ice-cold.

Pedestrians instinctively slowed down, sensing the tension between the two powerful men facing each other.

Benjamin Hamilton stood beside his SUV, his security team forming a protective wall behind him.

Across from him, Marco De Luca remained perfectly composed, his bodyguards watching every movement without saying a word.

Devon found himself trapped between them.

"I'm leaving with my son," Benjamin declared.

"I don't remember asking your permission," Marco replied calmly.

"This has nothing to do with you."

"Everything involving Mr. Hamilton interests me now."

Benjamin's patience snapped.

"You think because people fear your name you can interfere with my family?"

"Fear has nothing to do with it," Marco answered.

"Respect does."

"Respect is earned."

"Exactly."

Devon stepped between them before either side could escalate further.

"Enough!"

Both men looked at him.

"I'm not a child."

"Neither of you gets to decide where I go."

Benjamin frowned.

"Devon, get into the car."

"No."

"That's an order."

"I'm tired of your orders."

The words hit Benjamin harder than he expected.

"After everything I've done for you?"

"Everything you've done was for the company, Father... not for me."

"Don't be ridiculous."

"Really?" Devon laughed bitterly.

"You chose my school."

"You chose my career."

"You even chose who I'm supposed to marry."

"Did you ever ask what I wanted?"

Benjamin remained silent.

That silence answered everything.

Marco watched the exchange with quiet interest.

"You should listen to your son," he finally said.

"Stay out of this!" Benjamin snapped.

"It's a family matter."

"Not anymore."

"What does that mean?"

Marco stepped forward.

"Mr. Hamilton, I'm making your son an offer."

Devon looked confused.

"An offer?"

"Yes."

"Lunch first."

"Business after."

"Business?" Devon asked.

"I don't work in your world."

"Perhaps you should."

Benjamin laughed sarcastically.

"You expect my son to work for the mafia?"

"I expect nothing."

"I simply recognize talent when I see it."

"You barely know him!"

"Sometimes first impressions reveal more than years of observation."

Marco looked directly at Devon.

"You have courage."

"Or terrible judgment," Devon replied.

"Both qualities can be useful."

Despite himself, Devon smiled.

"You're impossible to understand."

"Most people think so."

Benjamin took another step forward.

"This conversation is over."

"Devon is coming home."

"I'm not," Devon answered firmly.

"Excuse me?"

"I'm not coming home."

"Not today."

"Not tomorrow."

"I need space."

"Space?"

"Father, you've controlled my entire life."

"I can't breathe anymore."

"You're acting like a spoiled child."

"Maybe."

"Or maybe I'm finally acting like an adult."

The words left Benjamin speechless.

For years Devon had obeyed every instruction without question.

Today he barely recognized his own son.

Marco glanced toward his waiting Rolls-Royce.

"Mr. Hamilton," he said.

"Lunch is still available if you're interested."

Devon hesitated.

Every instinct warned him to refuse.

Nothing good could come from spending time with New York's most feared mafia boss.

But another part of him was curious.

Marco wasn't what he expected.

He wasn't loud.

He wasn't reckless.

He didn't threaten people.

He simply spoke with absolute confidence, as though the world naturally adjusted around him.

"Fine," Devon finally answered.

"One lunch."

"Nothing more."

"Agreed."

Benjamin's face darkened.

"If you get into that car... don't bother coming back to Hamilton Manor."

Devon slowly looked at his father.

"I haven't felt at home there in years."

Without another word, he walked toward the Rolls-Royce.

Benjamin watched helplessly as the rear door closed.

For the first time in his life...

His son had chosen someone else's path over his own.

The luxury car pulled away smoothly.

Inside, neither man spoke for several minutes.

Finally Devon broke the silence.

"So... where are we going?"

"My restaurant."

"You own restaurants?"

"Several."

"I thought mafia bosses only owned casinos."

Marco chuckled quietly.

"Television has lied to you."

"Apparently."

"Our businesses are perfectly legal."

"Mostly."

"Mostly?"

"You ask interesting questions."

"I like honest answers."

"So do I."

The Rolls-Royce entered a private underground garage beneath one of Manhattan's most luxurious hotels.

Staff immediately lined up as Marco entered.

"Good afternoon, Boss."

"Prepare the private dining room," Marco instructed.

"Immediately."

"Yes, Boss."

Devon looked around in amazement.

"Everyone seems terrified of you."

"Not terrified."

"Disciplined."

"There's a difference."

Lunch was served in complete privacy.

Fresh seafood.

Imported wine.

Italian dishes prepared by award-winning chefs.

Everything looked extraordinary.

"You still haven't told me why you wanted to meet me," Devon said.

Marco placed his glass down.

"Because I have a proposal."

"I'm listening."

"Work for me."

Devon nearly dropped his fork.

"You're serious?"

"Completely."

"You don't even know my qualifications."

"I already do."

"You investigated me?"

"Of course."

"That's... unsettling."

"It's efficient."

"What exactly would I be doing?"

"Helping expand my international businesses."

"Legal businesses."

"With a salary three times what your father pays you."

"And complete independence."

Devon's heart skipped a beat.

Everything he had ever wanted...

Freedom.

Respect.

The chance to build something without living under Benjamin Hamilton's shadow.

It was all sitting across the table from him.

Yet accepting would mean stepping into Marco De Luca's dangerous world.

"I need time to think," Devon admitted.

Marco nodded.

"Take twenty-four hours."

"After that... the offer disappears forever."

Before Devon could respond, Marco's phone vibrated.

Luca Romano appeared at the dining room door, his usually calm face unusually tense.

"Boss..."

"We have a problem."

"The shipment from Italy has been attacked..."

"And whoever did it left a message."

"They specifically mentioned... Mr. Devon Hamilton."
