I woke up the next morning to the sound of someone knocking on the bedroom door.
I opened my eyes and immediately noticed that my husband was already awake.
He was sitting at the edge of the bed, staring at the floor with an unusually pale expression.
"Why are you sitting there?" I asked sleepily.
He turned around and looked at me. "You slept through the night?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
He didn't answer.
I got out of bed and stretched. Then I noticed something strange.
The bloody warning on the wall was gone.
I walked closer and touched the wall. There wasn't even a stain left behind.
"Someone cleaned this?" I muttered.
My husband stared at me in silence.
I turned toward him. "Did you clean it?"
He slowly shook his head.
Before I could ask anything else, the bedroom door burst open.
Liam rushed inside with his hair sticking up in every direction.
"Mom! Breakfast!"
I frowned at him. "What happened to your hair? Didn't I tell you to comb it?"
He immediately grabbed a comb and began fixing it.
The system's voice rang out.
"Son's favorability has increased to 90."
I smiled with satisfaction.
Clearly, children behaved better when their parents maintained proper discipline.
I walked into the kitchen and found Penny sitting at the table, swinging her little legs.
"Good morning, Mom!" she chirped.
"Good morning, sweetheart."
I kissed her forehead and noticed a dark red stain on her sleeve.
"Penny, what is this?"
She looked down innocently.
"I don't know."
I immediately took off her dress and tossed it into the laundry basket.
"Go change. We don't wear dirty clothes at breakfast."
Penny smiled brightly.
"Okay, Mom!"
The system sounded again.
"Daughter's favorability has increased to 70."
I nodded proudly.
Behind me, Liam suddenly stopped eating.
I turned around. "What's wrong?"
He stared at the window.
"Mom, someone is outside."
I walked over and pulled the curtains open.
There was nothing there.
"Stop trying to scare your sister," I scolded him. "Eat your breakfast."
Liam's expression became complicated.
"I'm not joking."
Just then, the apartment intercom rang.
I pressed the button.
A trembling male voice came through.
"Is anyone inside? Please! Let me in!"
I frowned.
"Who are you?"
"I'm a player! I survived the first day! Please open the door! The others are coming!"
Liam's face suddenly changed.
His pupils became completely black.
Penny stopped swinging her legs.
My husband stood up slowly.
I looked at all three of them in confusion.
"Why is everyone acting so strange?"
The voice on the intercom became frantic.
"Don't trust the family! Don't open the door! The family kills anyone who enters!"
I rolled my eyes.
"What kind of nonsense is this?"
I pressed the unlock button.
My husband grabbed my wrist.
"Don't."
I stared at him.
"Why not? He's asking for help."
His grip tightened.
"Because he'll make the house dirty."
I froze.
That was the first sensible thing he had said all morning.
I immediately released the lock.
"Fine. Nobody comes inside without taking off their shoes and cleaning themselves first."
The intercom went silent.
A few seconds later, something slammed violently against the apartment door.
Then another impact.
And another.
The entire family stared at the door.
I sighed.
"What are they doing? They'll damage the door."
I marched toward the entrance.
Liam suddenly grabbed my sleeve.
"Mom, don't open it."
I looked down at him.
"Why?"
His face was pale.
"Because those people aren't asking to come inside anymore."
Another crash shook the apartment.
A voice outside screamed.
"RUN! THE BOSS HAS WOKEN UP!"
My husband lowered his head.
His stitches began splitting open one by one.
Blood dripped onto the freshly cleaned floor.
I stared at the mess in disbelief.
"What are you doing?"
He slowly raised his head.
His eyes had turned completely black.
The system's voice echoed through the apartment.
"Day Two special event has begun."
"The family is no longer required to hide their identities."
"Survival rate will now be determined by family favorability."
I looked at my husband, then at Liam and Penny.
They were all staring at me.
Yet none of them attacked.
Instead, my husband quietly stepped in front of me and faced the door.
"Stay behind me, honey."
I frowned at the blood dripping onto my floor.
"First, stop bleeding everywhere."
He froze.
Liam covered his mouth to hide a laugh.
Penny giggled.
And somehow, the terrifying atmosphere disappeared.
The system sounded again.
"Husband's favorability has increased to 70."
I smiled.
This parenting game was becoming easier than I expected.
