Six months later...
Mike Tech had become one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry.
The project Carl had invested in was a tremendous success, and everyone in the office was busier than ever.
The biggest change, however...
Was that no one was surprised to see Carl waiting downstairs every evening.
"Mr. Graham is here again," one colleague whispered.
"He's probably waiting for Winnie."
"Of course he is. When isn't he?"
The office filled with playful laughter.
I packed my bag and walked downstairs.
Carl was leaning against his car with a bouquet of white lilies in his hands.
"Congratulations," he said with a smile.
"For what?"
"Today marks exactly two years since someone sent me a message saying..."
"'Eat no matter how busy you are. Be a good boy, okay?'"
I couldn't help laughing.
"You still remember that?"
"Every word."
"You changed my life with one simple message."
We drove to the same restaurant where we'd had our first dinner together.
This time, there were no misunderstandings.
No secrets.
No anonymous usernames hiding behind phone screens.
Only us.
After dinner, Carl led me to the rooftop garden overlooking the city.
The skyline glittered beneath the stars.
"There's one last thing," he said softly.
He handed me a small gift box.
Inside was the old lacquered titanium cup.
The one that had started every misunderstanding.
"I kept it," Carl said.
"Because one day I wanted to tell our children this ridiculous story."
"About how their mother almost broke up with me because of a coffee cup."
I laughed so hard that tears formed in my eyes.
"It wasn't just the cup."
"It was the sweater... the steak... the necklace... everything."
"I know," Carl replied with a grin.
"Looking back... we really were hopeless."
"A little."
"Only a little?"
"Maybe... very."
We both laughed.
Carl gently took my hand.
"Do you regret meeting me online?"
I looked at the city lights stretching into the distance.
Then I looked back at the man standing beside me.
"Not for a second."
"Because even though we spent a year talking through our phones..."
"You were never far away."
"You were always right there waiting."
Carl wrapped me in his arms.
"And I'll keep waiting," he whispered.
"For every tomorrow."
"For every ordinary day."
"For the rest of my life."
I rested my head against his shoulder.
"Then promise me one thing."
"Anything."
"No more secret identities."
"No more misunderstandings."
"And never skip lunch again."
Carl laughed.
"Yes, ma'am."
"I'll be a good boy."
I smiled and kissed him softly.
Some love stories begin with fireworks.
Ours began with a steak, a coffee cup, and one mistaken identity.
Sometimes fate doesn't bring two people together from opposite ends of the world.
Sometimes...
They're already standing in the same building.
Simply waiting for the right moment to find each other.
THE END.
