Liam's POV
I barely slept that night.
Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Andy lying beneath that white sheet.
Then I saw the blood bag.
Then Gwen walking away.
And finally, that payment record kept appearing in my mind.
Pierce Donovan had signed it.
By sunrise, I had made my decision.
I was going to see Pierce myself.
My lawyer had already given me the address of the hospital where Pierce was recovering. I drove there with the documents sitting on the passenger seat.
The moment I stepped into his room, Pierce looked up.
His expression changed instantly.
"Liam?"
He glanced toward the door, then back at me.
"What are you doing here?"
I closed the door behind me.
"I came to ask you about my son."
His face stiffened.
"Andy? Gwen already told you. He's fine."
I placed the document on his bedside table.
"Then explain this."
Pierce looked down.
His eyes landed on his own signature.
For several seconds, he didn't move.
I leaned closer.
"You signed an agreement to obtain Andy's blood six weeks before his accident."
Pierce's face went pale.
"I didn't know that was going to happen."
"Don't lie to me."
My voice was quiet, but every word carried the anger I'd been holding inside.
"You knew Andy had Rh-null blood. You knew Gwen was arranging it. And when my son was dying, you still took the blood."
Pierce's lips trembled.
"Gwen said it was the only way to save me."
"So you knew."
He looked away.
That was enough.
I pulled out another document.
"Then you should also know this."
I placed the hospital report in front of him.
"Andy died before the transfusion ever reached him."
Pierce's expression changed.
For the first time, genuine fear appeared in his eyes.
"No..."
"Yes."
I stared directly at him.
"You got the blood. My son got nothing."
Pierce's breathing became uneven.
"I thought Gwen would save him."
"She chose you."
The words came out colder than I expected.
"She chose you while our four-year-old son was fighting for his life."
Pierce covered his face with both hands.
"I never wanted him to die."
"But you wanted his blood."
He had no answer.
I turned toward the door.
Before I could leave, Pierce suddenly spoke.
"Liam, wait."
I stopped.
"There's something else you don't know."
I slowly turned around.
Pierce looked terrified.
"The accident wasn't supposed to happen."
My heart stopped.
"What did you say?"
He swallowed hard.
"Gwen told me Andy would be tested at the hospital. She said everything had to look natural. But the car accident... that wasn't part of the original plan."
My hands curled into fists.
"Then what was the original plan?"
Pierce lowered his voice.
"A routine medical procedure."
My blood ran cold.
"They were going to take his blood during a scheduled procedure and tell you it was necessary for testing."
I stared at him in disbelief.
"Gwen planned to take our son's blood without telling me?"
Pierce nodded slowly.
"She said you would never agree if you knew the truth."
For a moment, I couldn't breathe.
All those times Gwen had smiled at me and told me she was working late.
All those times she'd said Andy was healthy.
All those times she'd insisted Pierce was just a friend.
It had all been a lie.
I picked up the documents and walked out.
My lawyer was waiting downstairs.
"Did he confirm it?"
I nodded.
"He did more than confirm it."
I handed over the recording I'd made during the conversation.
"Now I want every person involved investigated."
My lawyer listened to the recording, his expression becoming darker with every second.
"Liam, this changes everything."
I looked back at the hospital entrance.
"I know."
My grief hadn't disappeared.
But for the first time since Andy died, it had direction.
Someone had planned to use my son.
And I was going to uncover every person who had helped them.
