Faye’s POV
Six months later, I stood in front of the small house overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
It wasn't a grand estate.
There were no towering gates, no marble halls, and no ancient council chambers.
Just a white wooden house, a small garden, and a path leading down to the beach.
It was perfect.
Leo was in the backyard, chasing a ball through the grass.
He was laughing.
Really laughing.
Not the careful, restrained laugh I remembered from my first life.
Just the carefree laughter of a four-year-old boy.
Sebastian stood nearby, pretending he wasn't letting Leo win.
“Dad! You cheated!”
“An Alpha never cheats.”
“You totally cheated!”
I smiled from the porch.
This was the future I had once believed was impossible.
Not because Sebastian had become more powerful.
Not because I had awakened the Moonborn bloodline.
But because we had finally learned that family wasn't something blood alone could create.
It was something people chose every day.
Sebastian noticed me watching.
His eyes softened.
“Dinner is ready?”
I shook my head.
“Almost.”
Leo ran toward me.
“Mom! Look!”
He held up a tiny seashell.
“I found this for you.”
I crouched and took it from his hand.
“It's beautiful.”
“It's silver.”
He grinned.
“Like you.”
I laughed and hugged him.
For years, I had wondered whether I was too weak to deserve a place beside them.
Now I knew the truth.
I had never been weak.
I had simply spent too long measuring my worth by the standards of people who could never understand me.
That night, after Leo fell asleep, Sebastian and I sat on the porch.
The moon reflected across the ocean.
He reached for my hand.
“Do you ever regret coming back?”
I looked at him.
“Never.”
“Even though you had to remember everything?”
I shook my head.
“The memories hurt.”
“But they also taught me something.”
He waited.
“If the Moon Goddess hadn't given me another chance, I would have spent my entire life waiting for someone else to choose me.”
I looked toward the moon.
“This time, I chose myself first.”
Sebastian squeezed my hand.
“And then you chose me.”
I smiled.
“Yes.”
“But don't get too proud.”
He laughed softly.
“Too late.”
I leaned against his shoulder.
For a while, neither of us spoke.
Then I remembered the silver key Roman had given me.
I pulled it from the small box beside me.
Sebastian looked at it.
“You never opened it?”
“No.”
“Why?”
I smiled.
“Because I wasn't ready.”
I turned the key over in my fingers.
Then I remembered something Roman had said.
You'll find out when you're ready.
I stood.
“Come with me.”
We walked to the small shed behind the house.
Hidden beneath an old wooden floorboard was a tiny metal box.
The key fit perfectly.
Inside was a letter.
The handwriting was delicate and familiar, though I had never seen it before.
My mother's.
My hands trembled as I unfolded it.
The letter contained only a few lines.
My daughter,
If you are reading this, then you survived long enough to choose your own path.
Never let anyone convince you that love requires you to disappear.
Never wait for someone who has already chosen another road.
And never confuse sacrifice with love.
The Moonborn power was never meant to make you stronger than everyone else.
It was meant to remind you that your life belongs to you.
I pressed the letter against my chest.
Tears slipped down my cheeks.
Sebastian didn't interrupt.
He simply stood beside me.
When I finished reading, I looked at him.
“She was right.”
He nodded.
“She was.”
I folded the letter carefully.
Then I looked out toward the ocean.
The moon was high above the water.
Silver light covered everything.
Once, I had thought the silver moon represented waiting.
Waiting for Sebastian.
Waiting for Leo.
Waiting for a life that might never come.
But now I understood.
The moon had never been telling me to wait.
It had been showing me the way forward.
I took Sebastian's hand.
“I don't want to wait anymore.”
He smiled.
“Then don't.”
Behind us, a sleepy voice called from the house.
“Mom? Dad?”
Leo appeared in the doorway, rubbing his eyes.
“Where are you?”
I laughed.
“We're here.”
He ran toward us.
Sebastian lifted him into his arms.
I wrapped my arms around both of them.
The three of us stood beneath the silver moon.
Not as Alpha, Luna, and heir.
Not as powerful bloodlines destined to rule.
Just as a family.
A family that had chosen one another freely.
I closed my eyes.
I remembered the woman I had once been.
The woman who waited beside a cold window for a man who never came home.
She deserved better.
And finally, she had it.
I had it.
My life was no longer a promise someone else had made.
It was mine.
I no longer needed to wait for Sebastian.
I no longer needed to wait for Leo.
I no longer needed to wait for the Moon Goddess to decide my fate.
I had already chosen it.
I smiled beneath the silver moon.
And this time, I walked forward.
Not alone.
Not abandoned.
Not waiting.
Just free.
