Chapter 7: The Prophecy Beneath the Mountain

Silence settled over Hollow Peak after Kael and the Obsidian Circle disappeared.

The battlefield was littered with broken weapons, shattered crystals, and the bodies of defeated soldiers.

The cold morning breeze carried the scent of blood and smoke across the mountain.

Thaddeus carefully lifted Evelyn into his arms.

"We need to get her inside," Orion said.

"She's exhausted."

The Oracle nodded.

"The awakening drained nearly all of her life force."

"If she doesn't rest, her magic will consume her."

Ryland looked toward the destroyed tower.

"Half the place is gone."

"There's still an underground sanctuary," Elias replied.

"Follow me."

The old Oracle touched a stone wall.

Ancient runes suddenly glowed blue.

With a loud rumble, part of the mountain slowly opened, revealing a hidden staircase leading underground.

"I didn't know this place existed," Marcus admitted.

"Very few do," Elias answered.

"Some secrets were never meant to reach the surface."

The group descended into the mountain.

The passageway stretched deep beneath Hollow Peak.

Crystal lamps illuminated the walls with a soft golden light.

Ancient murals covered the stone, telling stories forgotten by history.

Evelyn slowly opened her eyes.

"Where are we?" she whispered.

"Somewhere safe," Thaddeus replied.

"For now."

She tried to sit up but immediately felt dizzy.

"Easy," he said gently.

"You've just awakened centuries of magic."

"I remember pieces," Evelyn murmured.

"A castle... white roses... people screaming..."

"They're memories passed through your bloodline," Elias explained.

"With time, you'll remember everything."

Eventually they reached a massive underground chamber.

Everyone stopped in surprise.

The room looked like an ancient royal temple.

White marble pillars reached toward the ceiling.

Silver banners bearing the Ashbourne crest still hung untouched despite the passing centuries.

"This place..." Evelyn whispered.

"It feels familiar."

"Because your ancestors built it," Elias answered.

At the center of the chamber stood an enormous crystal surrounded by glowing symbols.

"What is that?" Ryland asked.

"The Heart Crystal," the Oracle replied.

"It stores the memories and power of every Ashbourne ruler."

"It awakened when Evelyn accepted her bloodline."

Suddenly the crystal flashed brightly.

A soft female voice echoed throughout the chamber.

"Welcome home... my child."

Everyone immediately reached for their weapons.

A transparent figure slowly appeared above the crystal.

She wore a flowing silver gown and an elegant crown made of white diamonds.

Her turquoise eyes were identical to Evelyn's.

"Mother..." Evelyn whispered unconsciously.

The woman smiled sadly.

"No."

"I am Queen Seraphina Ashbourne... your ancestor."

"This message was left for the final heir."

Everyone listened silently.

"If you are seeing this... then House Ashbourne has fallen."

"Darkness has returned."

"And the balance of the world is once again threatened."

The Queen raised her hand.

A glowing map appeared above the crystal.

Three ancient kingdoms illuminated across the continent.

"To restore the balance, the Final Queen must recover the Three Sacred Relics."

"The Crown of Dawn."

"The Blade of Eternity."

"And the Crystal Heart."

"Only together can they seal the Eternal Shadow forever."

The image suddenly changed.

A monstrous creature with burning crimson eyes appeared.

Its enormous body was chained beneath a mountain.

"What is that?" Marcus whispered.

The Queen's expression darkened.

"The Devourer."

"The first creature born from darkness itself."

"It cannot be killed."

"Only imprisoned."

"If the chains break... every kingdom will fall."

Ryland frowned.

"Wait..."

"Didn't the mountain shake after Evelyn awakened?"

The Oracle's face immediately turned pale.

"Yes..."

"Because the Devourer sleeps beneath Hollow Peak."

Silence filled the chamber.

"You mean... it's under us?" Orion asked quietly.

Before Elias could answer...

The entire chamber violently shook.

Dust rained from the ceiling.

A deep roar echoed through the mountain.

It wasn't human.

It wasn't animal.

It sounded ancient.

Hungry.

"No..." Elias whispered.

"One of the chains has broken."

Another deafening roar shook the underground temple.

Cracks spread across the massive Heart Crystal.

Queen Seraphina's image began fading.

"Listen carefully," she said urgently.

"Do not let Kael obtain the Crystal Heart."

"If he succeeds..."

"The Devourer will awaken completely."

Her image disappeared.

The chamber fell into darkness.

Only the glowing crystal remained.

Then, from somewhere deep beneath the temple...

A pair of gigantic crimson eyes slowly opened.

And a voice, older than civilization itself, echoed through the mountain.

"After a thousand years... I am finally waking."

You finished
