I looked at him and spoke evenly.
I’m not pretending. Isn’t this what you wanted? For me to give things up for Felicity?
I paused.
If there’s anything else you want to give her, you can. This apartment, for example.
Julian narrowed his eyes. Gold bled into his irises, and the scent of his fury made everyone nearby tense.
Fine.
If you insist on this act, then get out. The position as the Hawthorne wife, the future Luna candidacy for Stonebridge—give them all to Felicity.
I froze for a second.
Now?
Now. He sneered. What, can’t let it go after all?
I said nothing more. I turned and went into the bedroom to pack.
After five years, my things barely filled a single twenty-inch carry-on.
Julian’s expression grew uglier with every item I packed.
By the time I pulled the suitcase to the door, he had stepped in front of me again.
He hooked a finger into the cashmere coat I was wearing.
I bought this coat, too. And right now, I think it would look better on Felicity.
I looked out the window.
Grayhaven’s first heavy snow had begun to fall.
I had no wolf form, and my body temperature ran colder than a normal werewolf’s. Julian knew that perfectly well.
Still, I undid the buttons, took off the coat, and draped it over a startled Felicity’s shoulders.
