Three months passed.

Shantelle returned to Switzerland and immersed herself in research once again.

Her days were filled with surgeries, lectures, and international medical conferences.

She barely had time to think about Rose Hills.

One afternoon, Nicole Lively unexpectedly appeared at Thompson Group.

She requested a private meeting with Evan.

"Come in," Evan said calmly.

Nicole sat across from him.

For several seconds, neither of them spoke.

Finally, she smiled bitterly.

"You've really changed."

"People do," Evan replied.

"Especially after losing what's most important."

Nicole lowered her eyes.

"I've accepted that you don't love me."

"Maybe you never truly did."

"Perhaps I confused your kindness with love."

Evan didn't deny it.

"I'm sorry."

"I should've realized it sooner."

"No," Nicole interrupted.

"I'm at fault too."

"I knew you were married."

"Even if your marriage wasn't perfect..."

"I shouldn't have stayed between the two of you."

"I'm leaving Rose Hills."

"I've accepted a teaching position overseas."

Evan looked genuinely relieved.

"I hope you find happiness."

Nicole smiled sadly.

"You too."

"Though I think yours will be much harder to find."

She quietly walked out of his office.

That marked the true end of their relationship.

Later that evening, Erick called Evan into his study.

"Sit down," he said.

He opened a wooden drawer and placed an old journal on the table.

"Do you recognize this?"

Evan shook his head.

"It's Shantelle's diary."

"She accidentally left it here years ago."

"I never had the heart to throw it away."

Evan hesitated.

"Should I really read it?"

"You should know what kind of woman you lost."

Slowly, Evan opened the first page.

The handwriting was neat and elegant.

"Today Evan smiled at me."

"I think I can be happy for the whole week."

He turned another page.

"I burned dinner again."

"I'll practice until I can cook his favorite meal perfectly."

"He forgot our anniversary."

"It's okay."

"He's busy."

"I'll remind him next year."

"He looked tired today."

"I secretly placed medicine inside his office drawer."

"I hope he remembers to take it."

Another.

"Sometimes I wonder..."

"If I disappeared..."

"Would he even notice?"

Evan stopped reading.

His vision blurred.

Every page was filled with love.

Not once did she complain.

The final page had been written the night before she signed the divorce papers.

Thousands of miles away, Shantelle stood before an audience of thousands at the World Medical Summit.

She had just been awarded the International Humanitarian Excellence Medal.

The host smiled as he introduced her.

As applause echoed throughout the grand hall, cameras captured Shantelle's calm smile.

Watching the live broadcast from his office, Evan couldn't take his eyes off the screen.

"She's shining brighter than anyone," he whispered.

His assistant entered carrying several business files.

"Sir, should I turn off the broadcast?"

"No," Evan answered quietly.

"Leave it on."

"She's exactly where she belongs."

At that very moment, the host asked Shantelle one final question.

"Doctor Shant..."

"You've achieved extraordinary success."

"What's the greatest lesson life has taught you?"

Shantelle smiled peacefully before answering.

"Never sacrifice your dreams for someone who asks you to give up yourself."
