Alexander did what few powerful men ever did willingly.
He opened the Moretti archives.
Not to the public. Not entirely. But to an independent legal team, financial auditors, and the families harmed by old Moretti operations tied to Whitmore routes and Victor Hale's network.
The decision angered allies, frightened partners, and confused enemies.
Luca called it noble and inconvenient.
Alexander called it overdue.
Scarlett stood beside him at the first restitution meeting. Former employees of the destroyed Whitmore partner company sat across the table. Some were old now. Some had brought adult children. They did not look at Alexander with admiration. They looked at him with suspicion, and they had earned that right.
Alexander addressed them without performance.
'My father made choices that harmed your families. I inherited the benefits of those choices. I cannot undo what was done, but I can acknowledge it and repay what can be repaid.'
An older man named Daniel Price stared at him. 'Money does not return years.'
'No,' Alexander said. 'It does not.'
'Then why now?'
Alexander glanced at Scarlett. 'Because loving someone honest makes dishonesty harder to live with.'
Scarlett's throat tightened.
The restitution fund began that week. It did not clean the Moretti name overnight. It did something better. It made silence impossible.
Privately, some Moretti allies warned Alexander that showing guilt invited weakness.
He answered, 'Then they have misunderstood strength.'
Whitmore Industries launched its own foundation soon after: The Isabella Whitmore Center for Recovery and Rights.
Its mission was simple. Medical support. Legal advocacy. Emergency protection for disabled adults facing financial abuse or family control.
At the opening ceremony, Scarlett stood with the help of a sleek black cane and Dr. Cross close by.
The cameras gasped when she rose.
She did not walk far. Only three steps to the podium.
But those three steps belonged to her.
'This center exists because too many people are told they are burdens when they are actually being robbed of power,' Scarlett said. 'We are here to return that power.'
Alexander watched from the front row, eyes shining with pride he did not bother to hide.
That evening, Scarlett asked him, 'Are we becoming good people?'
He smiled faintly. 'Let us not become arrogant.'
She laughed.
For once, the future laughed with her.
