Three months later, the scandal surrounding Vivian spread across Flodon.
She was convicted of assault, intentional property damage, and public disturbance.
The once-arrogant woman who had flaunted the Goodwin family's influence disappeared from high society overnight.
Lucas also paid a heavy price.
Because of the incident, Goodwin Group's reputation suffered greatly.
Several important business partners terminated their cooperation, causing the company's stock price to plunge.
To restore public confidence, Harold announced Lucas's temporary removal from all executive positions.
Lucas accepted the punishment without complaint.
For the first time in his life, he realized that arrogance could destroy everything a person had built.
Meanwhile, I focused on preparing for my overseas business expansion.
On the day of my departure, Harold personally came to the airport.
"Miss Lily," he said sincerely, "thank you for showing us what true dignity looks like. I only regret that my son realized your worth too late."
I smiled politely.
"Chairman Goodwin, I hold no grudge against you."
"But some relationships end the moment respect disappears."
Harold nodded sadly.
"I understand."
Just as I was about to enter the boarding gate, Lucas appeared.
He looked much thinner than before.
"Lily," he called softly.
I stopped but did not turn around immediately.
"I don't expect your forgiveness," he said.
"I only wanted to apologize one last time."
"You were right."
"The person who didn't deserve this engagement... was me."
I finally turned to face him.
"I hope you've learned something from all of this."
"Judge people by their character, not by their appearance or status."
"The next time you choose someone to stand beside, make sure they're worthy of your trust."
Lucas lowered his head.
"I will."
I gave him one final nod before walking through the boarding gate without looking back.
As the plane lifted into the sky, I gazed out of the window with complete peace in my heart.
Some people spend their lives chasing wealth and power.
Others believe influence allows them to write the rules.
But in the end, true dignity can never be bought.
Respect is earned through character.
And that day, everyone in Flodon finally learned the answer to the question Vivian had mocked me with.
"Who is the nobody here?"
The answer had never been me.
It was those who mistook power for privilege and arrogance for superiority.
The End.
