EMILIA POV
The explosion outside shook the entire compound.
Dust rained from the ceiling as alarms echoed through every corridor.
Victor Kane smiled calmly, as though the attack had gone exactly as planned.
"Your Ghost is right on schedule," he said.
"Unfortunately for him... so am I."
Before I could answer, another explosion rocked the bunker.
The heavy steel door burst open.
A wounded Black Wolf stumbled inside.
"Boss!"
"The Iron Serpents breached the outer wall!"
"Marco Romano is leading the assault!"
Victor remained surprisingly calm.
"Good."
"Let them come."
Meanwhile...
GHOST POV
Cole Mercer blocked the tunnel with nearly a dozen armed Black Wolves behind him.
"You should've stayed gone six years ago," Cole sneered.
Ghost slowly raised his pistol.
"Move."
"Or what?"
"You'll kill all of us?"
"If I have to."
Cole laughed.
"I've been waiting for this."
Without another word, both men fired.
The narrow tunnel exploded into chaos.
Ghost dove behind an old support beam.
Two Wolves fell instantly.
Cole disappeared deeper into the darkness.
"Flank him!" he shouted.
Ghost pulled his combat knife.
As one attacker rounded the corner, Ghost disarmed him and drove the knife into his shoulder before knocking him unconscious.
Another rushed forward.
Ghost spun, striking him with the pistol before firing once.
The tunnel slowly fell silent.
Only Cole remained.
"Still alive?" Ghost called.
"Barely getting started," Cole answered.
The two men charged each other.
Their fists collided.
Cole landed a brutal punch across Ghost's jaw.
Ghost answered with an elbow that broke Cole's nose.
They crashed against the tunnel wall.
Cole reached for his knife.
Ghost caught his wrist and twisted hard.
The blade fell.
"This is for Vincent," Ghost growled.
One final punch sent Cole crashing unconscious onto the tunnel floor.
Ghost didn't stop.
He sprinted toward the bunker.
Back inside...
Victor finally pulled a pistol from beneath his jacket.
"Time to leave."
"You're running?" I asked.
"Leaders survive."
"Cowards run."
"History remembers winners."
Before he could move, the steel door exploded inward.
"EMILIA!"
Ghost.
He stood in the doorway covered in blood and dust.
His gray eyes immediately found mine.
"I told you I'd find you."
I couldn't stop smiling.
"You always do."
Victor fired first.
Ghost shoved me sideways.
The bullet grazed his shoulder.
"Ghost!"
"I'm fine!"
Ghost returned fire.
Victor ducked behind a concrete pillar.
"Take her and go!" Marco shouted as he entered with several Serpents.
"Not until this ends," Ghost answered.
Victor laughed from behind cover.
"Exactly what I hoped you'd say."
He pressed a remote hidden inside his pocket.
Red warning lights began flashing throughout the bunker.
"Self-destruct sequence activated," a computerized voice announced.
"Five minutes until detonation."
"You're insane!" Marco shouted.
"If I can't have my empire..."
"No one will."
Victor sprinted toward an emergency exit.
"Ghost!" I shouted.
"He's getting away!"
"Marco! Get Emilia out!"
"What about you?"
"I'm ending this."
Ghost chased Victor through the collapsing tunnels.
Concrete cracked overhead.
Pipes burst.
Smoke filled the air.
Victor reached the final exit first.
Just before escaping outside, Ghost tackled him.
Both men rolled across the rocky ground.
"It's over, Victor," Ghost said.
"No."
"Not until you're dead."
Victor pulled a hidden knife.
Ghost caught his wrist.
The blade slipped from Victor's hand.
Ghost landed one devastating punch after another.
Victor staggered backward toward the cliff's edge.
"You stole everything from me," Victor hissed.
"No," Ghost replied.
"You destroyed it yourself."
Victor lunged one final time.
Ghost stepped aside.
Unable to stop his momentum, Victor lost his footing.
He stared at Ghost for one brief second.
Then disappeared over the edge.
The canyon echoed with silence.
Seconds later...
A massive explosion ripped through the underground bunker.
Fire burst from every tunnel entrance.
The Black Wolves' headquarters collapsed into itself.
Marco and the remaining Serpents emerged safely.
I ran toward Ghost.
Without saying a word, I threw my arms around him.
"It's over," I whispered.
Ghost held me tightly.
"No more running."
"No more secrets."
"No more goodbyes."
Police sirens echoed in the distance.
The surviving Black Wolves surrendered one after another.
The Reapers scattered into the desert.
The war that had claimed so many lives was finally over.
As the sun rose over Desert Ridge...
The Iron Serpents stood together once more.
Bruised.
Broken.
But victorious.
