The flashing red and blue lights of police vehicles illuminated the abandoned warehouse.
Victoria Lang was escorted toward a police cruiser, her hands secured in handcuffs.
"You can't arrest me!" she shouted.
"Do you know who my family is?"
The lead detective remained expressionless.
"Miss Lang, you can explain everything at the station."
"Anything you say may be used as evidence."
Victoria glared at Serenity with burning hatred as she was driven away.
Meanwhile, Zachary wrapped his suit jacket around Serenity's shoulders.
"You're cold," he said softly.
"I'm okay," Serenity replied.
"No," Zachary answered.
"You're still shaking."
He gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.
"Let's go home."
During the drive back, neither of them spoke much.
Serenity leaned against the window, replaying everything that had happened.
Then she remembered something.
"At the warehouse..."
"You said you loved me."
Zachary tightened his grip on the steering wheel.
"I did."
"I meant every word."
Serenity smiled softly but didn't reply.
She wasn't ready to answer yet.
She wanted her feelings to be certain before speaking them aloud.
The next morning...
Every major news channel in Wiltspoon reported the shocking incident.
"Heiress Victoria Lang Arrested in Kidnapping Case."
"York Corporation Assists Police Investigation."
"Mrs. York Safely Rescued."
The entire city was stunned.
At Lang Group Headquarters...
Victoria's father, Richard Lang, slammed the newspaper onto his desk.
"This is impossible!"
"Find the best lawyers immediately!"
One of his executives lowered his head.
"Sir..."
"The evidence is overwhelming."
"Security footage, witness statements, phone records..."
"Even the fake charity organizer has confessed."
Richard clenched his fists.
"Who gathered all this evidence?"
"York Corporation."
For the first time in years...
Richard realized he was facing an opponent he couldn't intimidate.
Meanwhile...
At York Corporation, Ben entered Zachary's office.
"Sir, the police thanked us for our cooperation."
"They've also frozen several Lang Group assets related to the case."
"Good," Zachary replied.
"I don't want revenge."
"I want justice."
"Yes, sir."
That afternoon, Serenity returned to the bookstore.
Customers immediately surrounded her.
"Mrs. York, are you alright?"
"We saw the news!"
"That must have been terrifying."
Serenity smiled warmly.
"Thank you for your concern."
"I'm perfectly fine now."
An elderly customer stepped forward and gently squeezed Serenity's hand.
"Your kindness has always inspired this community."
"Don't let anyone change who you are."
Several customers applauded.
Some even brought flowers.
Jasmine looked around in amazement.
"Yesterday people believed rumors..."
"Today they're bringing you gifts."
"The truth always finds its way," Serenity replied.
That evening...
Grandma May invited the couple to dinner once again.
The moment Serenity entered the mansion, Grandma hugged her tightly.
"My poor granddaughter!"
"I nearly had a heart attack when I heard what happened."
"I'm alright, Grandma."
"Thanks to Zachary."
Grandma May looked proudly at her grandson.
"Well done."
"That's exactly how a husband should protect his wife."
The entire family praised Zachary for rescuing Serenity.
Even his younger brothers couldn't hide their admiration.
"Big Brother looked like an action movie hero," Callum joked.
"Don't exaggerate," Zachary replied.
"I'm serious!"
"You personally led the rescue team."
"That's never happened before."
Everyone laughed.
Later that night...
Serenity and Zachary stood together on the mansion's balcony.
The rain had finally stopped.
The city lights shimmered beneath the clear night sky.
"Thank you," Serenity whispered.
"For everything."
"You don't have to thank me."
"Protecting you is something I'll always do."
She looked into his eyes.
"Even if it puts you in danger?"
"Especially then."
A comfortable silence settled between them.
After a few moments, Serenity gently reached for his hand.
This time...
She was the one who initiated the gesture.
"I don't know what the future holds," she said.
"But I do know one thing."
"I've never felt safer than when I'm with you."
Zachary smiled warmly.
He intertwined his fingers with hers.
"Then I'll spend the rest of my life making sure you always feel that way."
Far away, inside a prison holding cell...
Victoria sat alone in silence.
Her expensive clothes had been replaced with a plain prison uniform.
The reality of her downfall had finally begun to sink in.
But deep within her heart...
Hatred still remained.
And she silently vowed...
This would not be the end.
