After the incident at the amusement park, Jeremy doubled the security around Madeline and Ethan.
He hired the best private investigators in Glendale.
This time, he refused to let history repeat itself.
Meanwhile, Madeline couldn't shake the feeling that someone was constantly watching them.
Every time she left the office, the same black SUV seemed to appear.
Every unknown phone call made her uneasy.
She knew Meredith wasn't finished yet.
The following morning, Jeremy received an urgent call from his lead investigator.
"Mr. Whitman, we've identified the man who approached Ethan."
"Who is he?"
"His name is Victor Hale."
"Former bodyguard."
"Currently working for a private security company that has no official records of his recent assignments."
"Can you connect him to Meredith?"
"Not directly."
"But we've discovered several large payments deposited into his account through anonymous shell companies."
"Keep digging."
"Yes, sir."
Later that afternoon, Madeline attended an international jewelry exhibition.
Dozens of investors gathered around Crawford Design's newest collection.
"Ms. Crawford," one investor smiled.
"Your designs are extraordinary."
"Thank you."
"We're interested in an exclusive partnership."
Before Madeline could respond, Meredith entered the exhibition hall.
She wore an elegant white dress and greeted everyone with her usual innocent smile.
"Madeline," she said sweetly.
"Congratulations on your success."
The room immediately became quiet.
Everyone knew the complicated history between the Crawford sisters.
Madeline remained calm.
"Thank you."
"I didn't expect to see you here."
"Business brings people together."
"Doesn't it?"
Meredith smiled.
"I heard your company is doing very well."
"I'm happy for you."
"Really?"
"Of course."
"We're sisters after all."
Madeline simply smiled back.
"Funny..."
"You only remember that when people are watching."
Several guests exchanged uncomfortable glances.
Meredith's smile stiffened for only a second before returning.
"You've always misunderstood me."
"Perhaps."
"Or perhaps I finally understand you perfectly."
Without another word, Madeline walked away.
Meredith's expression darkened.
"You'll regret embarrassing me," she whispered under her breath.
That evening, Jeremy visited the investigators' office.
"Any updates?"
"Yes."
"We recovered deleted files from Victor Hale's phone."
Jeremy leaned forward.
"What did you find?"
"Several encrypted messages."
"One of them contains a photograph of Ethan."
"Another includes instructions that read..."
"Take the child without attracting attention."
Jeremy's face turned pale.
"Who sent the message?"
"We're tracing it."
"But we found something else."
The investigator handed Jeremy a flash drive.
"What's this?"
"Security footage from five years ago."
"The night Meredith's accident happened."
Jeremy stared at the drive.
"Where did you get it?"
"An old traffic camera backup that was never included in the police investigation."
"Is it complete?"
"Completely untouched."
Jeremy immediately inserted the drive into a computer.
The video began playing.
He watched silently.
Madeline and Meredith argued beside the road.
Then...
Meredith deliberately stepped into traffic.
Madeline lunged forward, trying to pull her back.
The accident happened exactly as Madeline had always described.
Jeremy closed his eyes.
The truth was finally undeniable.
For years...
He had punished an innocent woman.
"Make copies of this footage," he ordered.
"Tomorrow morning, I want it delivered to the police and every major news outlet."
"Yes, Mr. Whitman."
"No more lies."
The next morning, Glendale exploded with shocking headlines.
"New Evidence Clears Madeline Crawford."
"Meredith Crawford Suspected of Fabricating Accident."
"Five-Year-Old Mystery Finally Solved."
Television stations replayed the recovered footage repeatedly.
Public opinion changed overnight.
Outside Meredith's apartment, reporters gathered in large numbers.
"Miss Crawford!"
"Did you frame your sister?"
"Do you have any comments?"
"Was the evidence fabricated?"
Meredith locked herself inside.
She smashed a glass vase against the wall.
"Jeremy!"
"You betrayed me!"
"After everything I did for you!"
Across town, Madeline watched the news in complete silence.
Ethan looked up from his breakfast.
"Mom?"
"Why are they talking about you on TV?"
Madeline turned off the television.
"Because sometimes the truth takes a long time to arrive."
"But it always finds its way home."
A few minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Jeremy stood outside holding no flowers.
No gifts.
Only a single envelope.
"What is this?" Madeline asked.
"Proof."
"Proof that you were innocent all along."
She slowly opened the envelope.
Inside was the original investigation report.
Along with a handwritten letter.
"Madeline,"
"No apology will ever be enough for what I took from you."
"I stole your trust."
"I stole your happiness."
"And I stole five years from our family."
"I can't erase the past..."
"But I promise that from this day forward, I'll never let anyone hurt you or Ethan again."
"Even if you never forgive me."
Madeline folded the letter carefully.
She looked at Jeremy for a long time.
"I believe you've changed."
Jeremy remained silent.
"But believing you've changed..."
"Isn't the same as loving you again."
Jeremy nodded slowly.
"I know."
"Then keep your promise."
"Protect Ethan."
"That's all I ask."
"I will."
As Jeremy walked away, he didn't notice Ethan standing behind the curtains.
The little boy looked at the letter in his mother's hands.
"Mom..."
"Why does Mister Jeremy always look so sad whenever he sees us?"
Madeline gently hugged her son.
"Because he's finally carrying the weight of his own mistakes."
Neither of them realized...
That Meredith had already disappeared from her apartment.
And somewhere in Glendale...
She was planning one final revenge.
