Richard Hart remained inside the conference room, exchanging polite conversation with Emily while Dominic quietly observed him.
"You've grown so much," Richard said with a warm smile.
"Your father would have been proud."
Emily smiled faintly.
"I hope so."
"How's your mother?"
"She's safe."
"That's good to hear."
Richard looked around before lowering his voice.
"Emily, there are dangerous rumors going around."
"Be careful who you trust."
Dominic folded his arms.
"Interesting advice."
"Especially coming from someone who disappeared from the family for eight years."
Richard's smile faded for only a second.
"Life took me in different directions."
"Nothing more."
"I'm sure," Dominic replied calmly.
After another few minutes of conversation, Richard excused himself.
"Please give my regards to your mother."
"Of course," Emily replied.
The moment he entered the elevator, Dominic pressed a button on his phone.
"Follow him," he instructed his security team.
"Everywhere."
"Don't let him notice."
"Understood, sir."
Marcus entered the conference room carrying his laptop.
"Our surveillance team is already behind him."
"Good," Dominic answered.
"Let's see where he really goes."
Emily looked confused.
"You honestly think Uncle Richard is involved?"
"I hope I'm wrong," Dominic replied.
"But hope isn't evidence."
"We'll let the facts decide."
Several hours passed.
Late that afternoon, Marcus rushed into Dominic's office.
"We have something."
"Richard never went home."
"Where did he go?"
"A private warehouse near the harbor."
"And guess who was already there."
"Victor Kane," Dominic answered.
"Exactly."
Marcus placed several surveillance photographs on the desk.
Richard and Victor were clearly talking together.
Then another man joined them.
"Who's that?" Emily asked.
"Adrian Cole," Marcus replied.
"The former soldier working for Kane."
Emily's heart sank.
"Uncle Richard really is working with them..."
"It appears so," Dominic said.
"But we still don't know why."
Just then, Dominic's phone rang.
"Steele."
His expression immediately became serious.
"We'll be there in twenty minutes."
He ended the call.
"That was our surveillance team."
"Richard and Victor are leaving the warehouse."
"They're heading toward an abandoned shipping yard."
"Let's move."
Marcus grabbed his car keys.
"I'll bring the security team."
"Emily, you're staying here," Dominic ordered.
"No."
"This involves my father."
"I'm coming."
"It's dangerous."
"I know."
"But I deserve to know the truth."
Dominic looked into her determined eyes.
Finally, he nodded.
"You stay beside me at all times."
"Deal."
Half an hour later, several black SUVs quietly surrounded the abandoned harbor.
Marcus used binoculars to observe the warehouse.
"There are at least ten armed guards."
"Victor and Richard are inside."
"Can we hear them?" Emily asked.
"Our team planted a listening device earlier today," Marcus replied.
He turned on the audio feed.
Static filled the speakers before voices became clear.
"The girl has the evidence," Victor Kane said.
"Robert was smarter than I expected."
"I told you we should've dealt with Emily years ago," Richard answered.
Emily's entire body froze.
"He... he knew?"
Tears filled her eyes.
Richard continued speaking.
"My brother refused to cooperate."
"He chose his family over money."
"That was his mistake."
"And yours," Victor replied coldly.
"Find the evidence before Steele exposes us."
"Or none of us survive this."
Emily stepped backward in disbelief.
"My own uncle..."
"He betrayed Dad..."
Dominic gently held her shoulders.
"Stay focused."
"This recording changes everything."
"It's a confession."
Marcus immediately saved multiple copies of the audio.
"This is enough to obtain arrest warrants."
"Not yet," Dominic replied.
"If we move now, Victor's network will disappear."
"We need the entire organization."
"Then what's the plan?" Emily asked.
Dominic's grey eyes remained fixed on the warehouse.
"We make Victor believe he still has the advantage."
"While he searches for the evidence..."
"We'll destroy everything he's built."
Inside the warehouse, Victor suddenly looked toward the window.
"Something feels wrong," he muttered.
"Check outside."
One of his guards immediately headed toward the entrance.
Marcus lowered the binoculars.
"We've been spotted."
"Everyone back to the vehicles!" Dominic ordered.
Security teams quickly retreated.
As Dominic helped Emily into the SUV, a single gunshot echoed through the harbor.
The bullet shattered the rear window.
"Drive!" Dominic shouted.
The convoy sped away into the night.
Emily looked back through the broken glass.
Richard Hart stood outside the warehouse.
Watching her leave.
Without even the slightest trace of regret.
