The convoy raced away from the harbor while bullets echoed behind them.
Fortunately, none of the vehicles were hit again.
Twenty minutes later, Dominic's team returned safely to Steele Estate.
Emily remained silent the entire journey.
She couldn't erase Richard's voice from her mind.
"My own uncle..." she whispered once they entered the house.
"He helped destroy our family."
Dominic gently placed a hand on her shoulder.
"He made his choice."
"None of this is your fault."
Emily nodded slowly, wiping away her tears.
Inside the study, Marcus connected his laptop to the large television.
"I've backed up the warehouse recording in six different locations," he said.
"Even if something happens to one copy, the evidence survives."
"Good," Dominic replied.
"Any update on Victor?"
"Our surveillance team followed him after the warehouse."
"He went straight to Kane Global Headquarters."
"No unusual movement since then."
Dominic remained thoughtful.
"He's planning something."
"I can feel it."
Just then, Dominic's phone rang.
"Steele."
His expression hardened immediately.
"Repeat that."
Marcus looked up.
"What's wrong?"
"Victor just contacted our legal department."
"He wants a private meeting tomorrow morning."
"Only me."
"That's a trap," Marcus said instantly.
"Obviously."
"Then don't go," Emily pleaded.
Dominic looked at her calmly.
"I have to."
"If Victor believes I'm walking into his trap..."
"He'll expose himself."
"That's exactly what we need."
Marcus nodded.
"We'll prepare our own trap."
The next morning, Dominic arrived alone at an old luxury hotel where Victor requested the meeting.
At least... that's what Victor believed.
Hidden nearby were Marcus, several undercover officers, and a special task force from the Financial Crimes Division.
Emily watched everything through the live security feed from Steele Estate.
Her heart pounded with every passing second.
Inside the private conference room, Victor Kane smiled confidently.
"Mr. Steele."
"Thank you for coming."
"Let's skip the formalities," Dominic replied.
"What do you want?"
Victor leaned back comfortably.
"Robert Hart's evidence."
"Hand it over."
"And?"
"I'll forget Emily Hart ever existed."
"Otherwise... accidents happen every day."
Dominic stared at him without emotion.
"You're threatening someone under my protection."
"I'm making you an offer."
"No," Dominic answered.
"You're confessing."
Victor laughed.
"Do you really think you can stop me?"
"Money controls everything."
"Judges."
"Politicians."
"Police."
"Everyone has a price."
"Not everyone," Dominic replied.
"Enough."
Victor stood.
"Search him."
Two armed guards stepped forward.
Before they could reach Dominic, every conference room door burst open simultaneously.
"Federal Financial Crimes Division!"
"Nobody move!"
Victor's confident smile disappeared.
"What?"
Marcus entered behind the officers carrying a flash drive.
"Your entire conversation was recorded."
"Along with your confession from the harbor warehouse yesterday."
"Impossible!" Victor shouted.
"It gets better," Marcus smiled.
"Your offshore accounts have already been frozen."
"Every document Robert Hart collected has been delivered to the authorities."
Victor looked around desperately.
"Richard!"
But Richard Hart wasn't there.
Instead, another officer entered the room.
"Richard Hart was arrested thirty minutes ago while attempting to flee the country."
Victor's face turned pale.
"No..."
"It's over," Dominic said calmly.
"Robert Hart finally got justice."
Police officers handcuffed Victor Kane as reporters outside the hotel began broadcasting breaking news across the country.
"Billionaire Victor Kane Arrested In Financial Crime Investigation."
"Several high-ranking officials also detained."
Back at Steele Estate, Emily watched the live report with tears in her eyes.
"Dad..." she whispered.
"You finally won."
Hours later, Dominic returned.
The moment Emily saw him, she ran into his arms.
"It's over," he whispered.
"You're safe."
She hugged him tightly.
"Thank you... for believing me."
"For believing my father."
Dominic gently lifted her chin.
"Your father was a brave man."
"He deserved justice."
"And so did you."
For a brief moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Emily smiled through happy tears.
"I don't know what I would've done without you."
Dominic smiled back.
"You'll never have to find out."
Neither of them realized Marcus was quietly watching from the doorway.
He smiled to himself.
"About time," he muttered.
Because after surviving danger together...
There was one confession still waiting to be made.
