Chapter 9: The Enemy From the Past

Sabrina stared at Sebastian in shock.

"Your father's greatest enemy?" she repeated.

Sebastian kept his eyes fixed on the old photograph.

"I'm certain of it."

"When I was a child, my father warned me never to trust this man."

"He blamed him for destroying several powerful families."

Sabrina carefully took the photograph.

The smiling man standing beside her mother looked kind and gentle.

"This doesn't make sense," she whispered.

"Mom would never stand beside someone evil."

Sebastian remained silent.

"Appearances can be deceiving."

"Or someone lied to both of us," Sabrina replied.

For the first time, Sebastian didn't argue.

He was beginning to question everything he thought he knew.

Back at the Ford Mansion, Arthur was waiting anxiously.

The moment he saw the wooden box, his face turned pale.

"Where did you get that?"

"An old nurse named Emily gave it to me," Sabrina answered.

"She said Mother left it for me."

Arthur slowly closed his eyes.

"Emily... she's still alive..."

"Grandpa, do you know this man?" Sabrina asked, showing him the photograph.

Arthur froze.

His hands began trembling.

"I prayed this day would never come."

"Who is he?" Sebastian demanded.

Arthur looked at both of them.

"His name was Adrian Scott."

"Sabrina... he was your father."

Sabrina's eyes filled with tears.

"Then why did you say he was your friend?"

"Because he was."

"He was more like a brother to me."

"Then why did Sebastian's father call him an enemy?"

Arthur sighed deeply.

"Because someone manipulated both families."

"Your fathers never truly hated each other."

"They were betrayed by the same people."

"The Lynn family?" Sebastian asked.

Arthur slowly nodded.

"The Lynns started everything."

"They stole company assets, murdered innocent people, and blamed Adrian."

"Your father believed the lies."

"By the time he discovered the truth... it was too late."

The room fell into complete silence.

Everything Sabrina believed about her family's past was collapsing.

Everything Sebastian believed about his father was changing.

Arthur looked exhausted.

"Inside the envelope is the final proof."

"Open it."

Sabrina carefully broke the old wax seal.

Inside was a handwritten letter from her mother.

"My dearest Sabrina,"

"If you're reading this, it means I couldn't protect you."

"Please don't hate Arthur."

"Everything he did was to keep you alive."

"The Lynn family has been hunting our bloodline for years."

"Never trust Tiffany Lynn or anyone connected to her."

"There is one final piece of evidence hidden inside the old Scott Clinic."

"Find it before they do."

"Only then can our family's name be cleared."

Sabrina finished reading with tears streaming down her face.

"Mom knew this would happen..."

Sebastian quietly folded the letter.

"We're going to the Scott Clinic tomorrow."

Arthur immediately objected.

"No."

"They'll be waiting."

"That's exactly why we should go," Sebastian replied firmly.

"If the Lynns want something there, then it's important."

At the same moment, across the city...

Tiffany Lynn sat inside her luxurious office.

One of her bodyguards entered nervously.

"Miss Lynn..."

"They escaped."

She slammed her coffee cup onto the floor.

"Useless fools!"

"Did they open the wooden box?"

"Yes."

"Then there's no more time."

She picked up her phone.

"Activate Phase Two."

"It's time to eliminate Arthur Ford... and Sabrina Scott."

"What about Sebastian Ford?" the bodyguard asked.

Tiffany smiled coldly.

"If he chooses Sabrina..."

"Then he dies with her."

Meanwhile, late that night, Sebastian stood alone on the mansion balcony.

He looked toward Sabrina's bedroom window.

For the first time, guilt filled his heart.

He remembered every harsh word he had spoken.

Every accusation.

Every moment he refused to believe her.

"Maybe..." he whispered.

"I was wrong all along."

Just then, his assistant rushed outside.

"Mr. Ford!"

"Chairman Arthur has disappeared!"

"What?"

"His room is empty."

"The security cameras were disabled."

"There's only one thing left behind."

Sebastian grabbed the folded piece of paper.

It contained only a single sentence:

"If you want Arthur alive... come to the Scott Clinic alone."
