The revelation inside the ancient temple spread through Shadow Keep before sunset.
Although only a handful of elders knew the complete prophecy, everyone sensed something significant had changed.
The Heart Crystal had never awakened before.
Now its silver light illuminated the underground chamber without pause.
Seraphina remained standing before it, unable to take her eyes away.
"The Crown of Unity..." she whispered.
"I still don't understand why fate would choose me."
Darius folded his arms.
"Perhaps it didn't."
"Perhaps you chose yourself the moment you walked away from the life that was destroying you."
His words lingered in her mind.
An elder approached carrying a weathered scroll.
"My Alpha," he said.
"We've found additional records."
Darius accepted the parchment and carefully unfolded it.
Ancient symbols covered its surface.
"Read it," Seraphina said.
The elder nodded.
"Only one whose heart has been broken by destiny may claim the Crown."
"Power alone cannot awaken it."
"Royal blood cannot command it."
"Only sacrifice opens the path."
The temple fell silent once again.
Seraphina slowly looked toward Darius.
"Then every Alpha in the kingdoms will be searching for it."
"Exactly," he replied.
"Some will seek freedom."
"Others will seek control."
"And if the wrong person finds it first?"
"The mate bond could become a weapon."
"Entire packs could be forced into obedience."
Neither of them needed to say anything else.
They both understood what was at stake.
Later that evening, the leaders of Shadow Keep gathered inside the council hall.
A massive map of the northern kingdoms lay across the stone table.
"Blood Fang Valley lies here," Commander Alden explained, pointing toward a narrow mountain pass.
"There are only three routes."
"Each one crosses dangerous territory."
"We'll need at least forty warriors," another commander suggested.
Darius shook his head.
"Too many soldiers will only attract attention."
"We'll travel with a small team."
"I'll go with you," Seraphina said immediately.
Every eye turned toward her.
"Absolutely not," Darius answered.
"Why?"
"Because every Alpha searching for the Crown will also be searching for you once the prophecy spreads."
"Which is exactly why I have to come."
"The prophecy mentioned me."
"Running away won't change that."
Darius remained silent.
He knew she was right.
After several moments, he finally nodded.
"Very well."
"But you stay beside me at all times."
"Agreed."
Far to the south, Silvercrest Palace received unexpected visitors.
Three neighboring Alphas entered Kael's council chamber before dawn.
"We've heard the rumors," Alpha Magnus said.
"The Crown of Unity has awakened."
Kael remained expressionless.
"Rumors travel quickly."
"Are they true?"
"I don't know."
"But if they are," Alpha Helena added,
"Every kingdom will soon be at war."
Kael looked toward the northern mountains through the palace window.
"Then we stop the war before it begins."
"How?" Rowan asked.
Kael answered without hesitation.
"We find the Crown first."
That same night, hidden inside an abandoned fortress beyond the eastern borders, the mysterious cloaked figure gathered several rogue leaders.
"The northern packs are already moving," one rogue reported.
"Excellent," the stranger replied.
"Let them fight each other."
"And Lady Seraphina?"
The hooded figure smiled coldly.
"She'll lead us directly to the Crown."
"Keep watching her."
"But don't interfere... yet."
Back inside Shadow Keep, Seraphina stood alone on the fortress wall.
Snowflakes drifted quietly around her.
She remembered the frightened woman who had left Silvercrest believing her life was over.
Now another path lay before her.
One that could change the future of every wolf.
Darius quietly joined her.
"The horses will be ready before sunrise," he said.
"Are you nervous?"
Seraphina smiled faintly.
"Terrified."
"Good."
She looked at him in surprise.
"Fear reminds us that what we're protecting matters."
She nodded slowly.
"Then let's protect it together."
As the moon rose above the mountains, four different armies prepared to march toward Blood Fang Valley.
None of them realized they weren't only racing for an ancient artifact.
They were racing toward a battle that would decide the future of fate itself.
