Faye’s POV
The moment the call ended, Sebastian moved.
He crossed the apartment in three long strides and checked the lock on the front door.
Then the windows.
Then the balcony.
His expression had become completely cold.
“Pack guards?” I asked.
“No.”
He pulled out his phone.
“I'm calling my Beta.”
“Don't.”
Sebastian looked at me.
“Why?”
“Because if someone inside the Silver Moon Pack is involved, calling your people may tell them exactly where we are.”
He stared at me for several seconds.
Then he slowly lowered the phone.
“You're right.”
It was strange hearing those words from him.
In our previous life, Sebastian had rarely admitted I was right about anything concerning the pack.
I walked toward the window and pulled the curtain aside.
The street below looked normal.
Cars passed.
People walked beneath umbrellas.
Nothing seemed unusual.
But my instincts told me otherwise.
Someone was watching us.
Leo suddenly spoke from behind me.
“Mom.”
I turned.
He was standing beside the sofa, rubbing his eyes.
“I'm scared.”
I immediately knelt in front of him.
“Don't be.”
He looked at Sebastian.
“Dad said Alphas aren't supposed to be scared.”
Sebastian crouched beside him.
“That's not true.”
Leo looked confused.
“It's not?”
“Being afraid isn't weakness.”
Sebastian placed a hand on his shoulder.
“It's knowing what to do with that fear that matters.”
Leo nodded slowly.
I watched them in silence.
That was something Sebastian had never taught him before.
He had taught Leo to dominate.
To fight.
To suppress emotions.
Now he was teaching him something different.
How to protect himself without becoming cold.
A sudden crash came from downstairs.
Leo jumped.
Sebastian immediately stood.
“Stay here.”
He moved toward the door.
I caught his arm.
“Don't go alone.”
He looked down at my hand.
For a moment, neither of us moved.
Then he nodded.
“Stay behind me.”
We stepped into the hallway.
The building was silent.
Too silent.
Then a shadow moved at the far end of the corridor.
Sebastian's eyes flashed gold.
“Who's there?”
No answer.
A figure suddenly rushed from the stairwell.
Sebastian shoved me backward.
The attacker struck him across the chest.
The impact sent him crashing against the wall.
I froze.
Sebastian recovered instantly.
His claws extended.
He grabbed the attacker by the throat and slammed him against the floor.
“Who sent you?”
The man laughed.
“You're already too late, Alpha.”
Sebastian's eyes narrowed.
“What does that mean?”
The attacker suddenly bit down.
A bitter smell filled the hallway.
Poison.
His body went limp.
Sebastian released him.
I stared in shock.
“He killed himself.”
Sebastian nodded.
“He didn't want us to question him.”
Then Leo screamed.
“Mom!”
I spun around.
The apartment door was open.
Leo was gone.
For one heartbeat, I couldn't breathe.
“Leo!”
Sebastian ran toward the apartment.
I followed.
The room was empty.
The balcony door was swinging in the wind.
Sebastian's face changed completely.
His wolf erupted.
“No.”
He rushed to the balcony.
I followed him outside.
Three floors below, a black vehicle was speeding away.
A small figure was visible through the rear window.
Leo.
“They're taking him!” I shouted.
Sebastian's eyes turned bright gold.
His entire body shifted with terrifying speed.
Within seconds, a massive silver-gray wolf leaped from the balcony.
He landed on the pavement below and sprinted after the vehicle.
I stood frozen for half a second.
Then I grabbed my coat and ran downstairs.
My son was being taken.
And this time, I refused to stand helplessly on the sidelines.
Outside, Sebastian was already disappearing into the distance.
I ran toward the road.
A second vehicle screeched to a stop beside me.
The driver's door opened.
Elena stepped out.
Her face was pale.
“Get in,” she said.
I stared at her.
“Where did you come from?”
“I followed Sebastian.”
Her eyes were filled with fear.
“Faye, we have to get Leo back before they reach the territory.”
I climbed into the vehicle.
For the first time, Elena and I were on the same side.
And somewhere ahead of us, my son was being carried toward an enemy I couldn't yet see.
