Chapter 19: A Choice Between Two Worlds

The Moon Gate blazed like a second sun.

Silver chains wrapped tightly around the Void Beast, forcing the monstrous creature back toward the portal.

It roared in fury, its voice shaking the mountains.

Yet the chains refused to break.

'Now, Aero!' the Shadow King shouted.

Without a moment's hesitation, Aero charged.

The light of the Moon Gate flowed into his sword until the blade became a weapon of pure moonlight.

Every step he took caused ancient runes to awaken beneath his feet.

The Void Beast swung one massive claw toward him.

Aero twisted in midair, narrowly avoiding the attack before driving his glowing sword into the creature's chest.

A blinding explosion of silver light erupted across the ruins.

The Beast let out a deafening scream.

Dark energy poured from the wound like black smoke.

'It's working!' Magnus shouted.

'Keep going!'

The creature fought desperately against the chains.

It clawed at the ground, tearing massive trenches through the ancient stone.

The Moon Gate trembled violently.

'The gate won't hold much longer!' Rowan warned.

'Aero has one chance!'

The Alpha King gritted his teeth.

He pushed the sword deeper.

Golden wolf aura merged with the silver light of the Moon Goddess.

For a brief moment, the entire battlefield disappeared beneath the brilliance.

Then...

The Void Beast gave one final roar.

Its enormous body slowly dissolved into countless fragments of darkness.

One by one, the fragments were pulled back into the Moon Gate.

The chains tightened.

The portal sealed shut.

Silence.

The forest became still once more.

The nightmare was over.

Aero dropped to one knee, exhausted.

Serena ran to him immediately.

'Aero!'

'I'm alright,' he said with a tired smile.

'You don't look alright.'

'I've looked worse.'

'Don't joke right now.'

She helped him stand.

For the first time since arriving in this world, he allowed himself to lean on someone else.

The Shadow King watched them quietly.

A peaceful expression settled over his face.

'It's finally over,' he whispered.

His body slowly began fading into silver light.

'What's happening?' Serena asked.

'My duty ended centuries ago.'

'I've only been waiting for someone worthy to finish what I couldn't.'

Aero stepped toward him.

'You knew this would happen.'

'Yes.'

'Are you afraid?'

The Shadow King smiled.

'Not anymore.'

'Tell me something,' Aero said.

'Did you ever regret loving her?'

For several seconds, the ancient king simply looked at the stars.

'Never.'

'Even though she left?'

'Love isn't measured by how long someone stays.'

'It's measured by whether you'd choose them again.'

'And I would.'

With those final words, his body dissolved into thousands of glowing particles.

The wind carried them into the night sky.

The first Alpha King was finally at peace.

As everyone stood in silence, the Moon Gate suddenly shimmered once again.

Instead of darkness...

A familiar blue sky appeared beyond the portal.

Cars.

Buildings.

City lights.

Earth.

Serena's eyes widened.

'Home...'

The spirit of the Moon Keeper appeared beside the gate.

'The prophecy is complete.'

'The path home has been restored.'

'You may return now.'

No one spoke.

Even Magnus and Rowan quietly stepped back.

This wasn't a decision anyone else could make.

The Moon Keeper looked at Serena gently.

'Your family still remembers you.'

'Time has barely passed in your world.'

'If you cross now... you'll wake as though this had all been a dream.'

Serena slowly turned toward the glowing portal.

It was everything she had wished for.

Home.

Her old life.

Her parents.

Her friends.

Everything she had lost.

Then she looked back.

Aero stood several steps behind her.

He didn't ask her to stay.

He didn't beg.

He simply smiled.

'Whatever you choose,' he said quietly.

'I'll respect it.'

'You deserve to live the life that makes you happy.'

Tears filled Serena's eyes.

She slowly walked toward the gate.

One step.

Then another.

She stood at the very edge of the portal.

The warm breeze from Earth brushed against her face.

She closed her eyes.

Memories flooded her heart.

Then another memory appeared.

A cold Alpha King standing between her and danger.

Late-night conversations beneath the stars.

Awkward horse rides.

Shared laughter.

Promises.

Trust.

Love.

Serena smiled through her tears.

She turned around.

Then she walked away from the portal.

Straight toward Aero.

She stopped in front of him.

She wrapped both arms around him.

'I've already found my home,' she whispered.

'It's wherever you are.'

Aero gently held her.
