A month passed in the blink of an eye.
Rodriguez Group's expansion into Europe became the biggest financial news of the season.
Business magazines, television interviews, and international media all featured one name.
Celeste Rodriguez.
The woman who had once been known only as Mrs. Trevor Fleming had finally become a leader recognized in her own right.
Meanwhile, Trevor remained in Andostan, but his attention was no longer on work.
Every morning, he searched for news about Celeste.
Every evening, he reread the divorce agreement lying untouched in his desk drawer.
He had still not signed it.
Not because he wanted to fight the divorce.
Because he wasn't ready to let her go.
One afternoon, Ethan entered his office carrying several invitations.
"Mr. Fleming, tomorrow evening is the Global Business Excellence Gala."
"Many international companies will be attending."
"Rodriguez Group is also on the guest list."
Trevor immediately looked up.
"Celeste will be there?"
"According to the organizers... yes."
For the first time in weeks, Trevor felt hope.
The following evening, the grand ballroom sparkled beneath thousands of crystal lights.
Business leaders from around the world filled the hall.
Trevor arrived early.
His eyes searched every corner of the room.
Then...
The entrance doors slowly opened.
Celeste stepped inside wearing a silver evening gown that shimmered beneath the lights.
Her long hair rested elegantly over one shoulder.
She looked graceful, confident, and radiant.
Beside her walked Adrian Hayes.
The two entered while discussing business, smiling naturally.
Almost everyone in the ballroom turned toward them.
"That's Ms. Rodriguez."
"She's much younger than I expected."
"No wonder everyone wants to work with her."
Trevor stood frozen.
He had seen Celeste dressed beautifully countless times before.
But he had never truly looked at her.
Now...
He couldn't look away.
Throughout the evening, guests continued approaching Celeste.
She answered every question confidently.
She spoke fluent English and French.
She negotiated effortlessly.
She laughed politely whenever someone complimented her achievements.
Trevor suddenly realized how little he actually knew about his own wife.
He hadn't known she spoke three languages.
He hadn't known she had earned an international finance degree.
He hadn't known she was capable of leading billion-dollar negotiations.
All these years...
He had only seen the woman who prepared breakfast.
The woman who waited for him.
The woman who quietly loved him.
He had never seen the extraordinary person standing beneath those responsibilities.
When the awards ceremony ended, Trevor finally walked toward her.
"Celeste."
She turned calmly.
"Mr. Fleming."
Even the way she addressed him had changed.
There was no affection.
No resentment.
Only politeness.
"Congratulations," Trevor said softly.
"Thank you."
"Can we talk?"
Celeste glanced at the clock.
"I have another meeting shortly."
"It'll only take five minutes."
She hesitated before nodding.
"Alright."
The two walked onto a quiet balcony overlooking the city.
Neither spoke immediately.
Finally, Trevor broke the silence.
"You've changed."
Celeste smiled faintly.
"People change."
"I didn't know you were this amazing."
"You never asked."
Her answer was calm.
Simple.
But it left Trevor speechless.
"Celeste..."
"I'm sorry."
"For everything."
"For ignoring you."
"For forgetting your birthday."
"For making you feel alone."
"For... Wynn."
He lowered his head.
"I was wrong."
Celeste quietly listened until he finished.
Then she looked toward the city lights.
"Trevor..."
"Do you remember what you told me on our wedding day?"
He frowned slightly.
"You said..."
"As long as I didn't interfere with your life, we could get along peacefully."
"For seven years..."
"I lived exactly the way you wanted."
"I never asked you to love me."
"I only hoped one day... you might choose me on your own."
She smiled sadly.
"I waited long enough."
"I'm not asking you to wait anymore."
Trevor felt his heart tighten.
"Can we start over?"
"No."
Her answer came immediately.
Without hesitation.
"Why?"
"Because I finally found myself."
"And I don't want to lose myself again."
Trevor's eyes reddened.
"I love you now."
Celeste remained silent for several seconds.
Finally, she spoke.
"Do you know what's heartbreaking?"
"I've waited seven years to hear those words."
"Now that you've finally said them..."
"They don't mean anything to me anymore."
Trevor stood frozen.
Celeste gave him one final polite smile.
"Take care of yourself, Mr. Fleming."
"I sincerely hope you find happiness."
With those words, she turned and walked back into the ballroom.
This time...
Trevor didn't chase after her.
Because he finally understood.
The woman he loved was still standing right there.
But she no longer belonged to him.
