Week five arrived faster than either of them expected.
Their programs were beginning to take shape.
The lifts were improving.
The transitions felt smoother.
And according to Irina, that was exactly when things became dangerous.
"Why?" Nadia asked.
"Because success creates laziness."
"We've literally never been lazy."
"Good. Keep it that way."
Irina walked away before either of them could argue.
"Does she enjoy confusing people?" Nadia asked.
"Very much."
"I'm glad we agree on something."
"We agree on many things."
"Name three."
"Coffee is essential. Early mornings are productive. Irina is terrifying."
"Okay, that's fair."
Training resumed.
By now they could complete entire sections of the rhythm dance without interruption.
Something that had seemed impossible only weeks earlier.
Nadia noticed it most during the quieter moments.
The moments when she stopped actively thinking.
Her body simply knew where Dominic would be.
What he would do.
How he would move.
The connection felt automatic.
"Forty-eight," Dominic said suddenly.
"What?"
"Forty-eight clean connections."
"You count them?"
"Of course."
"That's insane."
"It's useful."
"It's insane."
"Both can be true."
Nadia laughed.
"So what's the goal?"
"Sixty."
"That's a lot."
"We're getting closer."
They ran the sequence again.
And again.
And again.
Because that was what they did.
Because neither of them knew how to quit.
Because somewhere along the way, success had stopped being individual.
Now it belonged to both of them.
And neither wanted to be the reason they failed.
