Jaxon and Sable raced through the glowing passage toward the Inner Sanctum.
Behind them, the sounds of battle echoed relentlessly.
Steel clashed against stone.
Warriors roared.
The Temple itself trembled as Lucien fought Jasper, Ethan, Cedric, and Magnus.
"Keep moving!" Jaxon shouted.
"They're buying us time!"
Sable nodded, refusing to look back.
She knew every second mattered.
At the end of the passage, enormous silver doors slowly opened on their own.
Beyond them lay the heart of the Temple.
The chamber was unlike anything either of them had ever seen.
A circular pool of liquid moonlight surrounded a raised stone platform.
Above the platform floated the Lunar Crown.
It was crafted from shimmering silver, woven with delicate branches that resembled moonlit vines.
At its center rested a radiant white crystal that pulsed like a heartbeat.
The air itself felt alive.
Every breath filled them with warmth.
"It's beautiful," Sable whispered.
"It's waiting," Jaxon replied.
As they stepped onto the platform...
The crystal inside the Crown began to glow brighter.
Ancient runes illuminated across the floor.
The Temple responded to their presence.
Then...
A familiar silver light filled the chamber.
The Moon Goddess appeared once more.
She smiled warmly.
"Welcome, my children."
Jaxon and Sable bowed their heads.
"Rise," she said gently.
"There is little time."
Jaxon looked toward the floating Crown.
"Is this what Lucien has been chasing for centuries?"
"Yes," the Goddess answered.
"But he never understood its purpose."
"The Lunar Crown was never created to rule wolves."
"It was created to unite them."
Sable frowned.
"What's the difference?"
"A ruler demands loyalty through fear."
"A true leader inspires it through trust."
The Moon Goddess walked toward the Crown.
"Lucien sought power for himself."
"You sought to protect others."
"That is why the Temple accepted you."
"Can we stop him?" Jaxon asked.
"Only together."
She extended both hands.
"Approach the Crown."
Jaxon and Sable stepped onto the center of the platform.
The Crown descended slowly until it floated between them.
"Place your hands upon it," the Goddess instructed.
They obeyed.
The instant their fingers touched the silver metal...
A brilliant explosion of moonlight filled the chamber.
Neither of them wore the Crown.
Instead...
It separated into two streams of silver light.
One entered Jaxon's chest.
The other entered Sable's.
Both gasped.
The power felt overwhelming.
Yet peaceful.
Visions flooded their minds.
The first Wolf Kingdom.
The Alpha King and his Luna ruling side by side.
Packs living as one family.
Children playing together without fear.
Then...
Lucien's betrayal.
His obsession with absolute control.
The beginning of endless wars.
The visions faded.
"Where... is the Crown?" Sable asked.
The Moon Goddess smiled.
"It has accepted its rightful guardians."
"There is no single Crown anymore."
"Its power now lives within both of you."
"Neither can command it alone."
"Only together."
Jaxon looked down at his glowing hands.
"So Lucien can never steal it?"
"Not unless one of you willingly surrenders your heart."
"And that..."
"Will never happen."
Before anyone could speak again...
A violent explosion shattered the chamber doors.
Lucien stepped into the Sanctum.
His armor was cracked.
Blood stained one side of his face.
Yet his silver eyes still burned with determination.
Behind him lay the bodies of shattered Guardians.
Jasper staggered through the doorway moments later, badly wounded.
Ethan supported Cedric, whose shoulder bled heavily.
Magnus leaned on his staff, exhausted but alive.
"Too late," Lucien said with a bitter smile.
"The Crown should have been mine."
"You were never worthy of it," the Moon Goddess replied.
Lucien laughed.
"Worthiness is decided by the victor."
"Then I'll simply take their lives..."
"And force the power to obey me."
Dark energy erupted around him.
The entire Sanctum shook violently.
Crimson cracks spread across the floor.
"He's consuming forbidden power!" Magnus shouted.
"He's destroying his own soul!"
Lucien's body transformed.
Dark silver armor fused into his skin.
Massive black wolf claws extended from his hands.
His eyes glowed crimson.
A terrifying aura filled the chamber.
"If the Crown refuses me..."
"Then I'll become stronger than the Crown itself!"
The Moon Goddess stepped back.
She looked at Jaxon and Sable with calm confidence.
"The final choice belongs to you."
"Not as Alpha and Luna..."
"But as two hearts that chose one another."
Lucien raised his monstrous claws and roared.
"COME AND TAKE YOUR FUTURE... IF YOU CAN!"
Jaxon drew his sword.
Sable lifted hers beside him.
Their mate bond blazed like silver fire.
Side by side, they faced the fallen guardian.
The final battle...
Had begun.
