Lucien's roar shook the entire Inner Sanctum.
Dark energy exploded from his body, sending shockwaves across the chamber.
The crystal pool surrounding the altar rippled violently.
Ancient pillars cracked beneath the overwhelming pressure.
"Everyone back!" Magnus shouted.
Jaxon stepped forward, placing himself between Lucien and the others.
Beside him, Sable raised her sword.
The silver glow of their completed mate bond illuminated the chamber.
Lucien laughed.
"Beautiful."
"The Moon Goddess has finally given me everything I need."
"Your bond will make my victory complete."
"You'll never touch it," Jaxon replied.
"We'll see."
In a blur of speed, Lucien attacked.
His claws crashed against Jaxon's sword.
The impact sent Jaxon sliding backward across the stone floor.
"He's stronger than before!" Ethan shouted.
"He's feeding on forbidden magic!" Magnus warned.
Lucien turned toward Sable.
"Let's see if you're truly worthy of standing beside him."
He lunged.
Sable dodged beneath his strike and slashed across his side.
For the first time...
Lucien bled.
Dark silver blood dripped onto the ancient floor.
He smiled.
"Excellent."
"Now fight like the warrior your parents raised."
Sable's eyes burned with determination.
"Don't you dare speak about them."
She attacked relentlessly.
Every swing carried years of grief, discipline, and hope.
Lucien blocked each strike effortlessly.
Until...
Jaxon joined the battle.
The two moved as one.
Every attack from Jaxon created an opening for Sable.
Every defense from Sable protected Jaxon's blind side.
The mate bond connected their instincts.
They no longer needed words.
'Left!' Drax warned.
Jaxon moved before Lucien attacked.
Sable followed instantly.
Their teamwork forced Lucien backward for the first time.
"Impossible," Lucien growled.
"No pair has ever fought like this."
"Because no pair ever chose each other the way we did," Jaxon answered.
Furious, Lucien unleashed another wave of dark energy.
The Temple began collapsing.
Massive stones crashed from the ceiling.
"The Sanctum won't hold much longer!" Cedric yelled.
"Finish this now!"
Jasper struggled to his feet.
Blood covered his armor.
Yet he still lifted his sword.
"Jaxon!"
"You don't fight him alone!"
With a battle cry, Jasper charged.
Ethan followed beside him.
Magnus struck the ground with his staff.
Silver roots erupted from beneath Lucien's feet, slowing his movement.
"NOW!" Magnus shouted.
Jaxon and Sable exchanged one glance.
No words were needed.
Together they leaped.
Their swords crossed before them.
The silver power inside their hearts awakened completely.
Moonlight poured through every crack in the Temple.
Their blades became surrounded by radiant silver flames.
"For Winter Moon!" Ethan roared.
"For every pack!" Cedric shouted.
"For the future!" Jasper added.
Jaxon and Sable struck together.
Two blades.
One heartbeat.
One purpose.
Their attack pierced Lucien's dark armor.
The silver light entered his chest.
Lucien staggered backward.
He looked down in disbelief.
"No..."
"This... can't..."
The darkness surrounding his body began breaking apart.
The forbidden magic abandoned him.
"I only wanted..."
"Peace..."
The Moon Goddess appeared behind him.
"You wanted control," she said gently.
"Peace without freedom is only another prison."
Lucien looked toward her.
For the first time in centuries...
His anger disappeared.
"I failed... didn't I?"
"You lost your way," she answered.
"But every soul deserves the chance to find peace."
Lucien closed his eyes.
A single tear rolled down his face.
"I'm tired..."
His body dissolved into countless silver particles.
The dark energy vanished.
Silence returned to the Temple.
The remaining Guardians lowered their heads once more.
The crimson corruption faded from their eyes.
Warm moonlight filled the Sanctum.
The war was over.
Ethan let out a long breath before laughing.
"Someone remind me never to fight another immortal."
Cedric smiled despite his injuries.
"Agreed."
Jasper slowly approached Jaxon.
He extended his hand.
"Today... Winter Moon and Bloodlust fought as brothers."
Jaxon accepted the handshake.
"Let's make sure our children never have to fight this war again."
Jasper nodded.
"They won't."
The Moon Goddess looked proudly at the gathered wolves.
"The Crown has fulfilled its purpose."
"The packs have been united not by fear..."
"But by choice."
Outside...
The first rays of sunrise broke over the Crescent Mountains.
For the first time in generations...
The wolves of the Eastern Region welcomed a new dawn.
Together.
