The ancient voice faded into silence.
No one moved.
The silver symbol beneath our feet continued glowing.
I could feel its power moving through my veins.
It was different from the aura I had released before.
Older.
Deeper.
Almost alive.
My brother stepped forward.
"Sloane, don't touch the seal."
"Why?"
"Because no one has opened it in centuries."
"What happens if I do?"
He hesitated.
"We don't know."
Julia laughed weakly from the ground.
"That's what I've been telling you."
Falcon looked at her coldly.
"You knew about this."
"Of course I did."
"I spent years studying the First Moon legends."
"I knew the throne existed."
"And I knew whoever awakened it would possess authority over every Alpha."
I looked at her.
"So you wanted to control me."
"Yes."
"But you misunderstood one thing."
"What?"
"The throne doesn't obey people who seek power for themselves."
Julia's smile disappeared.
The silver symbol beneath me suddenly brightened.
A wave of energy moved outward.
Every wolf in the temple dropped to one knee.
Not from fear.
Instinct.
Even the strongest Alphas bowed their heads.
Falcon remained standing for several seconds.
Then he slowly lowered himself to one knee.
I stared at him.
"You don't have to do that."
"I know."
He looked up at me.
"I'm doing it because I recognize your authority."
The words echoed through the temple.
My brother was the only one who remained standing.
He smiled proudly.
"That's my sister."
The seal cracked.
A pillar of silver light rose from the ground.
Inside it appeared an ancient crown.
Not the jeweled crown from the jewelry shop.
Not a ceremonial Luna crown.
This one was made entirely of moon-silver.
A single white diamond rested at its center.
The crown floated slowly toward me.
Everyone watched in silence.
The elder nearest the entrance whispered,
"The First Crown."
"It has chosen her."
I reached toward it.
The moment my fingers touched the metal, a pulse of energy rushed through me.
Images flashed before my eyes.
Ancient Alphas.
Old battles.
A world ruled by one council.
And a woman wearing the same crown.
The first Luna.
She looked at me.
Her voice echoed inside my mind.
"Power exists to protect, not to possess."
"Rule only those who choose to follow."
"Never become what you fight against."
The vision disappeared.
I opened my eyes.
The crown was now resting in my hands.
The entire temple was silent.
My brother approached.
"Sloane..."
"I know."
"You're the First Moon's true heir."
The elders fell to their knees.
"We recognize Sloane Lunebom as the First Moon Alpha."
The declaration echoed through the ruins.
Falcon remained kneeling.
I looked at him.
"Stand."
He rose immediately.
"You don't have to kneel before me."
"I know."
"Then why did you?"
"Because I wanted everyone to see that I accept you as my equal."
Something inside me softened.
Not love.
Not yet.
But respect.
Real respect.
Julia suddenly tried to stand.
A guard stopped her.
"Take her away," my brother ordered.
Julia glared at me.
"You think you've won."
"I have nothing to win from you."
"That's the problem," she hissed.
"You never needed any of this."
I looked at her quietly.
"Exactly."
She was taken away.
The First Moon faction surrendered before sunrise.
Their leaders were arrested.
Their political network collapsed.
And every pack in Northmere heard the same announcement.
The ancient bloodline had returned.
Sloane Lunebom was no longer simply the future Luna of Silvermoon.
She was the First Moon Alpha.
The highest recognized bloodline in the werewolf world.
The following day, the council gathered again.
This time, no one dared question my right to speak.
The oldest elder stepped forward.
"Sloane, Northmere recognizes your authority."
"We ask whether you will accept the Luna crown of Silvermoon as well."
I looked toward Falcon.
"Do you still want me as your Luna?"
He answered immediately.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"Because you're the strongest woman I've ever met."
"That's not enough."
"Then because you're the first woman who ever made me want to become a better man."
The room became silent.
I lowered my eyes.
He continued.
"I don't want a Luna who obeys me."
"I want a Luna who challenges me."
"Who tells me when I'm wrong."
"Who can stand beside me without ever standing beneath me."
I looked at him.
He meant every word.
My brother smiled.
"The decision is yours."
I stood.
"Then I have conditions."
The council listened carefully.
"First, Silvermoon will no longer use Falcon's name to protect individuals who abuse their position."
"Second, every rank in the pack will be based on merit, not personal favoritism."
"Third, healers will have independent authority during emergencies."
"And finally..."
I looked directly at Falcon.
"The Luna will never be treated as an extension of the Alpha."
Falcon nodded.
"Agreed."
The council slowly bowed.
"Agreed."
That evening, a new ceremony was arranged.
Not because the council demanded it.
Not because my brother had arranged a political alliance.
Not because Falcon needed a Luna.
Because I had chosen to accept the role.
A new crown was placed before me.
This one was forged from moon-silver and set with the First Moon diamond.
The crown from the jewelry shop no longer mattered.
Neither did Julia's jealousy.
I had finally understood the difference between a crown and power.
A crown was an object.
Power was responsibility.
Falcon stood before me.
The elder asked,
"Do you accept Falcon Sterling as your mate and Alpha?"
I looked into his eyes.
This time, there was no hesitation.
"I do."
Falcon took my hand.
"I accept Sloane Lunebom as my mate, my equal, and the Luna of Silvermoon."
The crowd erupted in applause.
The mate bond completed.
Silver light surrounded us.
But this time, it didn't overwhelm the altar.
It flowed calmly around us.
Balanced.
Equal.
Complete.
I became Luna.
But more importantly...
I became a woman who had chosen her own future.
After the ceremony, Falcon approached me quietly.
"Do you remember the crown Julia stole?"
I smiled.
"The ugly little drama at the jewelry shop?"
"Yes."
"I remember."
"I think she can keep it."
"Why?"
"Because you never needed it."
He looked at me.
"You were always the crown."
I laughed softly.
"That's an annoyingly good line."
"I've been practicing."
For the first time...
I took his hand without hesitation.
But our story wasn't about a crown anymore.
It was about what came after.
And the future waiting for us would be bigger than either of us expected.
