Sabrina rushed into City Central Hospital, her heart pounding violently.
The emergency department was in complete chaos.
Doctors and nurses hurried through the hallways.
She immediately spotted Sebastian's assistant standing outside the operating room.
"How is he?" she asked breathlessly.
"The doctors are still operating," the assistant replied.
"The accident was serious."
"What happened?"
"The brakes failed while Young Master was driving back from the company."
Sabrina's face turned pale.
"Brakes... failed?"
"The police suspect someone tampered with the car."
Before she could ask another question, the operating room doors opened.
The chief surgeon removed his mask.
"The surgery was successful."
"However, Mr. Ford lost a lot of blood."
"He'll remain unconscious until tomorrow."
Sabrina finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Can I see him?"
"Only for a few minutes."
She quietly entered the private recovery room.
Sebastian lay motionless on the hospital bed.
Bandages covered his shoulder and forehead.
For the first time since meeting him, his cold expression had completely disappeared.
He looked... vulnerable.
Sabrina gently adjusted his blanket.
"You still owe me an explanation," she whispered.
"You can't die before telling me why your grandfather chose me."
She didn't realize Sebastian's fingers moved slightly.
Outside the room, Arthur arrived despite the doctor's orders to remain in bed.
"Chairman, you shouldn't be here," the butler pleaded.
"I had to come."
Arthur looked through the glass window.
Seeing Sabrina beside Sebastian, he smiled faintly.
"She's exactly the woman he needs."
Meanwhile, the police began investigating the accident.
A detective approached Sebastian's assistant.
"We've confirmed the brake line was deliberately cut."
"Do you suspect anyone?"
The assistant hesitated.
"Mr. Ford has many business rivals."
"We'll investigate all of them."
Later that evening, Sabrina finally remembered the notebook from the bank.
She quietly opened it while sitting beside Sebastian's hospital bed.
Arthur's handwriting filled the first page.
"Twenty-four years ago, I made a mistake that destroyed an innocent family."
Sabrina frowned.
She continued reading.
"The Scott family paid the price for my decision."
"If you're reading this, then it's time you learn the truth."
Suddenly, footsteps echoed outside the room.
She quickly closed the notebook.
A nurse entered.
"Mrs. Ford, visiting hours are over."
"You should get some rest."
"I'll stay here," Sabrina answered softly.
"He's my husband."
The nurse smiled warmly before leaving.
Around midnight, Sebastian's breathing became uneven.
His body trembled.
"Doctor!" Sabrina shouted.
The doctors rushed inside.
"He's having a nightmare," one doctor observed.
Sebastian suddenly grabbed Sabrina's wrist.
"Don't leave..." he murmured unconsciously.
Everyone in the room froze.
Even Sabrina was stunned.
His grip tightened.
"Mom... don't leave me..."
Tears quietly slipped from the corners of his closed eyes.
Sabrina's heart ached.
Behind his cold exterior was a frightened little boy who had never recovered from losing his mother.
She gently held his hand.
"I'm here," she whispered.
"You're safe."
Gradually, Sebastian calmed down.
The doctors exchanged surprised glances.
"His condition stabilized the moment you touched him," one doctor said.
"It seems your presence comforts him."
Sabrina looked at the unconscious man.
"Even though he hates me?"
"The heart doesn't always agree with the mind," the elderly doctor replied.
The next morning, Sebastian slowly opened his eyes.
The first thing he saw was Sabrina asleep beside his bed, still holding his hand.
He frowned slightly.
"Why is she here?"
His assistant stepped forward.
"Young Madam refused to leave all night."
"She stayed with you through the surgery."
"You kept calling for someone in your sleep."
"Who?"
"Her."
Sebastian looked at Sabrina again.
She looked exhausted.
Dark circles had formed beneath her eyes.
He carefully pulled his hand away before she woke up.
Just then, the detective entered the room.
"Mr. Ford," he said seriously.
"We found fingerprints on the damaged brake line."
"Do they belong to the mechanic?"
"No."
"They belong to someone who recently entered your mansion."
Sebastian's eyes narrowed.
"Who?"
The detective placed a photograph on the table.
Sebastian stared at it in silence.
It was a clear image of Sabrina.
"Mrs. Ford's fingerprints were found on the vehicle."
"At the moment... she's our primary suspect."
